2023 NCAA Tournament Bracket
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The 64-team field for the 2023 NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Championship was announced Sunday night as the Colorado School of Mines men's basketball team was selected to the national tournament for the 12th time in program history as they return to the big dance after missing the field last season.
Mines was selected as the #3 seed in the South Central Regional to be hosted by West Texas A&M and will take on sixth-seeded Black Hills State in the first round. The winner of that matchup play the winner of second-seeded Fort Lewis and seventh-seeded Lubbock Christian.
The rest of the South Central Region bracket sees the top-seeded and Lone Star Conference champion Buffs open against #8 seed Texas A&M-Kingsville while #4 seed Angelo State will take on #5 seed Colorado Mesa.
The Orediggers enter the national tournament with a record of 26-5 and went 18-4 in the RMAC, finishing fourth in the regular season and coming just short with a furious second half effort in the RMAC Tournament title game Saturday night but ended up falling to Fort Lewis 82-76. After missing out on the big dance last season, Mines will make their 12th appearance in the tournament, having previously made the field in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 and twice winning a regional title in 2017 (South Central) and again in 2021 (West).
