Orediggers Wrap Up Season Opener In 14th

BOULDER CITY, Neb.
- Lukas Taggart's top-25 finish led Colorado School of Mines in its season-opening tournament at the Las Vegas Desert Classic in Nevada.

The Orediggers wrapped up in a tie for 14th in the nationally-elite field, which included five of the top 10 teams in the GolfStat rankings. Mines was consistent on the week, shooting 306 Tuesday after dual rounds of 305 the first two days. 

After carding 71 on Monday, Taggart shot 74 on Tuesday to settle in a tie for 24th at +8, the top Oredigger on the leaderboard. Max Lange was next at T43 (+12) after a final-round 76, with Ethan Adam (T77, +19) and Theodore Reitter (T88, +24) the last two scorers on Tuesday. Carter Lolli finished T72 (+17) after an 82. 

Colorado Christian held off #8 Lee for the team title, winning at +6, four strokes up on Lee. Missouri St-Louis was third at +12. Lee's Beck Burnette won medalist honors at -12 ahead of UMSL's Joel Sylven (-9) and CSU Pueblo's Jamie Roberts (-4).

Mines is back in action March 19-20 at the Southern Colorado Masters at Pueblo Country Club.
