GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.
- Freshman Avery Wright wrapped up a new program record in the heptathlon as Colorado School of Mines track & field closed a huge weekend at the Maverick Invite & Multi.

Wright scored 4,900 points in her debut in the multi-event, marking the sixth different program record to fall over the past 72 hours. Coming off some big performances on Saturday, Wright picked up with a personal-best 5.67m long jump (itself the #7 all-time performance at Mines), threw a 28.95m javelin, and finished with a 2:25.72 800m to get to 4,900, surpassing Amanda Giles' record of 4,859 set in 2018. It landed Wright second overall in the event with the #11 D-II performance of the season, placing behind only Colorado Mesa all-American Mica Jenrette by 122 points.

Mines doubled up in 400m hurdle wins as Allison Comer won in 1:04.36, not only her personal best but also her first career win in the event and the new #4 all-time Mines performance. Coulton Chan then added a victory in 55.30, also his first career event win, as he went 1-2 with Elijah Quinby in 55.46. Chan would also run 14.86 seconds for third in the 110m hurdles, a new personal best.

Elsewhere on the track, Garrett Halbrooks placed ninth in the 100m dash in 11.08 seconds, Avary Catchings was third in the 400m at 59.64 seconds, and Miranda Manfre ran 2:19.49 for fourth in the 800m.

Grant Redmond and Lexye Wood made it a Mines high jump sweep with wins to highlight the Orediggers' day in the field. Redmond cleared 2.05m and won on fewest misses as he did not mark an X through 2.05 before passing at 2.08m and attempting 2.11m. Wood was one of three competitors tied for first at 1.65m and ended up knotted with CMU's Josie Coffey as each had three misses; Wood passed at 1.68m and attempted 1.71m while Coffey went out at 1.68m.
