Orediggers Battle Conditions At Palm Valley

GOODYEAR, Ariz.
- Colorado School of Mines is middle of the pack at the RJGA Palm Valley Classic after a challenging, windy Monday in Arizona.

The Orediggers are ninth in the field of 20 through 36 holes, battling the wind to shoot team rounds of 299 and 307 to be +30. Scores soared across the leaderboard in the conditions with Colorado Mesa leading the pack at +8. 

Lukas Taggart once again leads the way for the Orediggers in a tie for 13th at +3, carding rounds of 75 and 72. Taggart's afternoon round was highlighted by an eagle on the 540-yard 11th as he carded one of just four even-par or better second rounds as the winds whipped in Goodyear.

Max Lange is a shot behind Taggart in a tie for 19th at +4 on cards of 73 and 75. Lange's day was highlighted by a three-birdie stretch over four holes in his first round. Carter Lolli is tied for 51st at +11 after shooting 75 and 80, and Theodore Reitter is a shot behind at T59 after 76 and 80. Ethan Adam was the non-counter in both rounds at 79 and 84 to be T95 at +19.

Of Mines' four individuals, Connor Downey leads the way at +11 after shooting 78 and 77 to be in a tie for 51st. Jake Welch is +12 (T59) after 71 and 85, Owen Cornmesser is T91 at +18 on 77 and 85, and Jonathan Trigg is T103 (+21) after shooting 78 and 87.

The individual lead is a three-way tie at -2 between West Texas A&M's Kolton Baber, Colorado Christian's Xavier Bighaus, and Colorado Mesa's Cole Beyer.

Tuesday's final round will wrap up the regular season for the Orediggers before heading to the RMAC Championships on April 23-25.
