Powell, a native of Colorado Springs, has rewritten the Mines and NCAA Division II record books as one of the greatest distance runners in division history. A four-time national champion and eight-time all-American, Powell has won individual national titles in the outdoor 10,000m, indoor 5,000m, and cross country, and led Mines to the 2022 NCAA Division II cross country team title as well. On the track, he holds the Mines records in the indoor 5K (a mark that is also the NCAA D-II record) and outdoor 5K and 10K. He has been awarded with numerous academic accolades, as well, including First-Team Academic All-America, USTFCCCA Men's Scholar Athlete of the Year, four USTFCCCA All-Academic accolades, and six RMAC First-Team All-Academic nods.

Slowey, a native of Mountain Pleasant, S.C., accumulating five all-America finishes over her career. A three-time RMAC Swimmer of the Year, Slowey was the RMAC champion in the 500-, 1000-, and 1650-freestyle in 2021, added conference silver medals in the 1000-, and 1650-free in 2022, and then won the 1650-free gold plus 1000-free silver in 2023. Slowey owns the Mines program record in the 1650-free and the pool record as part of the 800-free relay, and her work in the classroom has led to two Academic All-America honors.
