MINES LAST CHANCE [Results]
GOLDEN, Colo. - Only two events were on Saturday's docket at the Mines Last Chance in Golden, with Avery Wright starting the heptathlon and Lexye Wood and Sidney Walshaw contesting the long jump.

Wood surpassed six meters for the third time this season, coming just three centimeters off her program record to lead the long jump competition. Walshaw put down a best marker of 5.50m for third.

In the heptathlon, Wright stands at 2,845 points as she is competing with UCCS' Faith Novess, who compiled 2,997 through the first day. Wright ran 15.02 in the 100m hurdles for 839 points, and 25.60 in the 200m for 833; she also added a 1.44m clearance in the high jump for 555 points and 11.34m in the shot put for 618 points. Sunday will see the pair finish off the multi with the long jump, javelin, and 800m.

PORTLAND DISTANCE CARNIVAL [Results]
PORTLAND, Ore. - Loic Scomparin's win in the 10,000m added that event to his nationals qualifying opportunities as he ran the second-fastest time in program history, 29:09.66, in his on-track debut over that distance at the Portland Distance Carnival. That will put him right around tenth nationally and gives Mines an incredible six qualifiers for the NCAA 10K in two weeks; Scomparin also ranks in the national top five in the 5,000m. Andrew Kaye finished third in 30:34.06 as the pair were paced out by Luke Julian and Mines assistant coach Mark Husted.

Max Bonenberger put himself right on the bubble for NCAA qualification running a career-best 9:01.39 in the 3,000m steeplechase, making him the new #4 all-time performer at Mines in the event. The time would make Bonenberger #20 nationally in the steeplechase pending other weekend results as he finished third in the race. Teammates Alex Shaw (9:14.47) and Max Sevcik (9:17.47) were seventh and eighth, respectively. The women's steeplchase also produced a big PR as Margaux Basart was the runner-up in 10:59.92, dropping another two seconds off her best and making her the eighth woman in Mines history to run a sub-11 race; Alex Raichart finished fourth in 11:13.44.

Julian ran 3:44.62 to take second in an elite 1,500m field, while Grace Strongman ran a 17:28.69 for fifth in the women's 5,000m.
