The 2023 Mines Athletics Auction and Hall of Fame will take place Sept. 30 at Lockridge Arena. Tickets are now on sale at minesathletics.com/auction.

The first national championship team in Mines Athletics history, the 2015 men's cross country team completes the 2023 class of the Harry D. Campbell Oredigger Hall of Fame.

The Orediggers captured the 2015 NCAA Division II championship, defeating RMAC rival Adams State to lift the first walnut and bronze trophy in school in history. Under national coach of the year Chris Siemers, Mines scored 100 team points to edge the Grizzlies by 27.

It had been a solid 2015 season up until the national championship in Joplin, Mo., as the Orediggers won the Colorado College Invitational and were a strong second at the Chile Pepper Festival in Arkansas, but Mines couldn't get past ASU in either the RMAC Championships (edged by a final margin of 36 to 52) or at the NCAA South Central Championships (beaten 55 to 104) as they finished as runners-up in both.

The national meet needed every Oredigger to produce their best run of the season, and that's exactly what happened. Mines' top three of Marty Andrie, Nathanael Williams, and Dan Mahoney stayed together finishing 18th, 21st, and 22nd, respectively, crossing the line before ASU's second man. Freshman Grant Colligan had a breakthrough run to be Mines' fourth all-American in 33rd place, and the race then came down to the fifth man Seth Topper, who bested his Adams State counterpart by four places in 47th to secure the national crown with 100 team points. Josh Hoskinson (86th) and Logan Winfield (153rd) were the sixth and seventh runners that day.

The victory came after a decade of being on the cusp of a title. Built up by fellow Class of 2023 Hall of Fame inductee Art Siemers, Mines had finished in the top 10 each year since 2005, including third in 2009 and a national runner-up finish in 2012. Since winning it all in 2015, the Orediggers have been no worse than third nationally, including more national titles in 2019 and 2022.
