GOLDEN, Colo. - Colorado School of Mines picked up more votes, but remains at #2 in both major national football polls this week.
The Orediggers (3-0) added five first-place votes in the AFCA Coaches' poll to have seven of the 30 available as the Orediggers trail #1 Ferris State by only 14 points overall. In the D2football.com Top 25, which does not release vote totals, Mines remained at #2 for a third straight week.It marks the Orediggers' 53rd consecutive week in the top 25 dating back to the 2018 season.
Pitt State remained at #3 in both polls behind Mines, with Ouachita Baptist and Minnesota State rounding out the AFCA top five and Grand Valley State and Minnesota State the D2football.com top five. Mines defeated GVSU in Week 1 and also defeated a then-top-10 Angelo State in Week 2; ASU fell to #22/21 after a loss to Central Washington. The Orediggers also own an impressive Week 3 win over Adams Stte, 70-7, to open RMAC play.
RMAC foe Western Colorado (3-0) moved up in both polls to #19/20 after beating a ranked CSU Pueblo side in Week 3, with the Thunderwolves falling out of both polls. Mines visits CSU Pueblo this Saturday for a 2 p.m. start.
