GOLDEN, Colo. - Colorado School of Mines football is #2 in both major polls this week after a season-opening win over Grand Valley State on Thursday.
The Orediggers stayed at #2 in the AFCA coaches' poll and picked up a first-place vote for the first time in program history, while elevating to their highest-ever showing at #2 in the D2football.com media poll. Ferris State tops both polls with Pitt State at #3.
This week's opponent, Angelo State, stands at #4 in the AFCA and #6 in the D2football.com rankings. It will be the Orediggers' second top-10 matchup after defeating #3/2 Grand Valley State, 31-28, in Week 1. Other notable teams in the polls include Super Region 4 foe Minnesota State at #9/7 and RMAC rival CSU Pueblo at #25/20. Western Colorado received votes in the AFCA poll.
Mines visits Angelo State Saturday with a 6 p.m. CT kickoff.
