LILBURN, Ga. – A 10th straight win for the Colorado School of Mines Basketball team has the Orediggers rising in the national rankings for a fifth consecutive time this season.
On Tuesday, the D2CSC Women's Basketball Division II Media Poll pushed Mines to #5. The WBCA NCAA Division II Top 25 Women's Basketball Coaches' Poll also bumped the Orediggers, one spot, to #8. It marks Mines' highest-ever ranking in the coaches' poll and matches the women's best position on the media's list. Last season and last week, the Orediggers appeared at #9 on the coaches' list. In January of 2022, Mines rose to #5 on the media list. Head Coach
Brittany Simpson has her team surging in the rankings thanks to a 10-game winning streak. Most recently, Simpson's squad downed Colorado Christian by a score of 80-73 at Lockridge Arena.
After Adams State's loss at South Dakota Mines on Saturday, the Orediggers are the only Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference squad to appear in the top-25 or receive votes. However, non-conference foes from earlier in the season are still making noise. MSU Billings is back up to #9 according to the D2CSC and #14 according to the WBCA. Texas Woman's is #16 on the coaches' list and #25 on the media list.
Mines hits the road this weekend for a game at CSU Pueblo on Friday before going to New Mexico Highlands on Saturday. Free live video on the RMAC Network and live stats of both games will be available at www.minesathletics.com.
