Bushara Named RMAC Offensive Player Of The Week

10/22/2024 2:20:00 PM

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference announced its weekly honors for men's soccer Tuesday and for the first time this season, a member of the Colorado School of Mines men's soccer team was among the honorees as Ayman Bushara was voted Offensive Player of the Week.

It is the first weekly award of Bushara's career and first Offensive Player of the Week honor for the Orediggers since Michael Sprauer on October 11, 2022.

Bushara was an instrumental part for Mines on the second leg of their four-match road trip as he ran his scoring streak to three games against Regis and South Dakota Mines. Thursday night with the Orediggers trailing the RMAC-leading Rangers after 50 minutes, Bushara keyed off an eight-minute stretch that saw Mines rally to level the score at 3-3 and earn a draw. He scored his fourth goal of the season in the 56th minute before assisting on the second goal of the sequence just 53 seconds later as he went on to finish the night with three points in 60 minutes.

Sunday against the Hardrockers, his header to the back post off a corner kick from Marc Zimmermann in the final 23 seconds of the opening period ended up being the game-winner as the Orediggers went on to post their first clean sheet of the season in the winning effort as Bushara finished the day with a team-high four shots in 61 minutes.

The Orediggers (3-9-2, 2-2-2) return to Stermole Stadium for three of their final four matches to close the regular season starting Thursday night against #13 Fort Lewis at 6 p.m. followed by a Sunday matchup at noon against Adams State.
