COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference announced its weekly honors for men's soccer Tuesday and one week after the Colorado School of Mines men's soccer team landed its first weekly award of the season, two more individuals were recognized as Raul Gerhardus was named Offensive Player of the Week and Peter Saunders named Goalkeeper of the Week.
 
It is the first weekly award for either player in their career. Gerhardus joins Ayman Bushara in taking home offensive honors while Saunders is the first Mines keeper to earn the weekly award since Caden Allaire did so on October 17 of last season.
 
Gerhadus turned in a weekend to remember as he helped pace the Orediggers' attack against Fort Lewis and Adams State. The redshirt junior assisted on the game-winner Thursday night in the 10th minute against the Skyhawks, as his corner kick was played home by John Burnett. Later in the match, Gerhardus tacked Mines' third goal of the contest in the 47th minute from Gabriel Rodriguez to all but put the match out of reach in a 3-0 win. Sunday against the Grizzlies, he accounted for two of the Orediggers' seven goals in a 7-1 win scoring twice in the 51st and 54th minutes on the way to victory.
 
Saunders turned in a dandy of a weekend in goal, spinning his second shutout of the season Thursday against Fort Lewis as he made four saves as he directed a defensive effort that allowed just four total targets on frame over 90 minutes. Sunday against Adams State he added another three saves in 76 minutes and faced just a further four shots on target.
 
Mines (5-9-2, 4-2-2) has just one match on tap this week as they head down the road to Lakewood to take on Colorado Chrisitian.
