United Soccer Coaches Week 8 Top 25 Poll
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The eighth regular season rankings from the United Soccer Coaches Association were released on Tuesday and ahead of the regular season finale this weekend at Stermole Stadium, the Colorado School of Mines women's soccer team maintained standings atop the United Soccer Coaches Poll for the fifth consecutive week.
Mines (15-0-1, 9-0-1) closed out their road campaign with 2-0 and 3-1 wins over New Mexico Highlands and Adams State last Friday and Sunday. Against the Cowgirls,
Reese McDermott became the third 50-goal scorer in program history and was joined in the scoring column by
Bella Campos. Sunday was the Campos show as the sophomore recorded a hat trick with three second half scores, including a header in the 74th minute that saw he team up for the second time in as many matches with a free kick from
Callie Fuhr.
The top four in the rankings remained the same with Columbus State, Ashland and Cal Poly Pomona in that order behind the Orediggers while Gannon broke into the top five by moving up two spots from seventh. Colorado Mesa moved up four places from #22 to #18 while MSU Denver continued to garner votes once more this week.
Mines faces two critical matches at home this weekend with postseason seeding and an RMAC title on the line starting Friday night against #18 Colorado Mesa followed by a Senior Day Sunday battle with Westminster.
