hosted by West Texas A&M
OREDIGGERS HEAD TO TEXAS
Colorado School of Mines makes a quick turnaround from its last outing to head south for the Ryan Palmer Foundation Invite, hosted by West Texas A&M on Monday and Tuesday at Amarillo Country Club. Monday's 36 holes start at 8 a.m. Central. This year's field features RMAC rivals Fort Lewis, Colorado Mesa, and #22 CSU Pueblo along with ranked regional opponents #4 Oklahoma Christian, #14 Dallas Baptist, #20 West Texas A&M, and #23 Midwestern State.
Live scoring will be available on Scoreboard.
THE TOURNAMENT
Mines is no stranger to the Ryan Palmer Foundation Invite, which has been a staple of their fall schedule since 2012. Last year, Mines finished third in the tournament led by
Lukas Taggart, who tied for first place before falling to UTPB's Sangha Park in a playoff.
Max Lange was sixth,
Ethan Adam finished T37,
Lucas Schulte T61, and
Owen Cornmesser T89.
THE FORECAST
The forecast looks pretty standard for the Texas panhandle: warm, sunny, and windy. Monday and Tuesday's highs will be around 90 with winds of 10-15 mph.
THE COURSE
Originally established in 1919, Amarillo Country Club is a par-71, 6,927-yard course that has a long history of hosting high-profile events and hall of fame golfers including names like Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, and Byron Nelson. The course was completely renovated in 2012 and features tree-lined fairways and bentgrass greens.
LAST TIME OUT
Mines played in the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational in nearby Erie earlier this week, finishing 18th in the otherwise entirely-D1 field. Colt Tenpenny finished as the top Oredigger on the leaderboard (T58), with
Lukas Taggart coming in T83,
