AMARILLO, Texas - Colt Tenpenny came in sixth place to lead Colorado School of Mines on the final day of the Ryan Palmer Foundation Classic at Amarillo Country Club.
Mines was +9 for the day to settle at even par for the tournament and finish sixth in a crowded field, with only six strokes separating third through seventh places. #3 Oklahoma Christian ran away with the team title at -26, with Colorado Mesa runner-up at -19.
Tenpenny secured a top-10 finish thanks to a two-under 68, complementing his rounds of 65 and 70 from Monday. Tenpenny had a steady Tuesday with four birdies and 12 pars, and he wrapped up -7 overall.
Lukas Taggart also finished the tournament under par at -3, tying for 16th place, with a final-round 74.
Charlie Tran continued his solid play in his season scoring debut with a one-over 71, climbing to T44 on the leaderboard at +5.
Eric Casademont Vinyoles shot 76 to be Mines' fourth score as the freshman ended up 84th at +16, while
Lucas Schulte was the third round's non-scorer at 79, finishing 69th at +9.
Colorado Mesa's Cole Beyer won medalist honors with a final-round 63 to get to -13, a shot ahead of 36-hole leader Kongpop Kaikaew of St. Mary's.
Mines wraps up the fall season next week at the Otter Invitational in Seaside, Calif., taking place Oct. 14-15.
