2024 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships Selections
INDIANAPOLIS – The NCAA announced the participants for the 2024 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships late Monday afternoon and the Colorado School of Mines men's and women's teams were both on the list.
Mines' qualification was a foregone conclusion after the Oredigger men and women earned automatic berths on Saturday. The men earned theirs by winning the NCAA South Central Region Championships. The women punched their ticket by taking team silver. Both races were run at snowy Washington Park in Denver, Colo. The top-three, seven-person teams automatically qualified from each of the eight regions in NCAA Division II. That provided the first 24 teams for each race. Ten additional teams were selected at-large. A minimum of 24 additional individuals were selected to participate in each championship through an automatic qualifier and at-large selection process.
Overall, the South Central Region saw seven men's programs and nine women's programs selected to compete for a national title. Of those 16 teams, seven men's squads and eight women's squads were from the Rocky Mountain Athletics Conference. The list of qualifying men's programs from the South Central Region featured Adams State, Colorado Christian, Mines, UCCS, CSU Pueblo, West Texas A&M, and Western Colorado. Women's teams from the region who will run at the national meet are Adams State, Colorado Christian, Colorado Mesa, Mines, UCCS, CSU Pueblo, Fort Lewis, West Texas A&M, and Western Colorado. Individuals advancing from the South Central included Weldon Chebon (New Mexico Highlands), Elijah Smith (Fort Lewis), Lesli Salas (Dallas Baptist), and Mia Salas (MSU Denver).
