COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference announced its All-Conference Teams and major award winners for women's soccer Tuesday and after claiming their seventh regular-season championship in program history, the Colorado School of Mines women's soccer team was well-represented on the postseason awards list as
Reese McDermott and
Bella Campos were named Co-Players of the Year,
Ava Harman was named Defensive Player of the Year and head coach
Kevin Fickes was named Coach of the Year while a further three players earned All-RMAC honors.
McDermott, the 2023 Player of the Year and back-to-back Academic Player of the Year, posted another eye-popping season in 2024, further cementing her legacy as one of the greatest players in program history. The Houston native scored a career-high 16 times while adding a further five assists for 37 points. Appearing in all 18 matches with 17 starts, she netted six game-winners and went 1-2 on penalties in 1,054 minutes. She posted two scoring streaks during the season of at least four matches with her longest streak of six straight running from October 6-25. Four times this season McDermott scored multiple goals, including a seven-point performance with a hat trick and an assist against West Texas A&M on September 15. She ended the regular season as the RMAC leader in goals, points, shots, game-winning goals and was tied for the top spot in shots on goal while being just one of two double-digit scorers in the league this fall.
Campos follows up a Freshman of the Year season in 2023 by being named Co-Player of the Year with a second act sophomore that was just as impressive. The Highland Village, Texas product scored 11 times with a career-high five assists for 27 points and netted three-game winning goals while going 2-3 on penalties this season. She started eight times in 18 matches for 921 minutes. Campos scored in back-to-back matches on four occasions during the season including the second hat trick of her career at Adams State on October, the only hat trick in RMAC play by any individual this season. She finished the regular season second in the league in shots, goals and points while being tied for third in game-winners and shots on goal as the second of two double-digit goal scorers in the RMAC alongside McDermott.
Harman becomes the seventh different player in Mines history to earn Defensive Player of the Year honors and the third Orediggers in as many seasons to earn the honor, joining
Natalie Rouse (2023) and Jordan Barnhart (2022). The First Team honor is the third All-RMAC award of her career and follows an Honorable Mention selection last fall and a Second Team appointment in the fall of 2021. The graduate student from Vancouver finished the regular season third on the team in minutes played with 1,451 and was one of three players to start all 18 contests. A winner of both Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors this season, she scored a career-high four times with two assists for 10 points with three of her goals being game-winners, a mark which ties her with Campos and three other players for third in the RMAC.
Fickes receives Coach of the Year honors for the fifth time in his tenure at the helm of the Orediggers after leading the program to its seventh RMAC regular season title and first full-length unbeaten regular season in program history. This season Mines also made its first-ever appearance as the #1 team in the country as per the United Soccer Coaches Top 25, a spot which they have held since the start of October. Under his guidance this season, the Orediggers recorded their fourth unbeaten campaign in league play while outscoring teams 52-6, averaging nearly three goals per contest and taking 369 shots in 18 matches.
Seltzer follows up an All-Tournament team nod in 2023 with her first All-Conference honor, turning in another stellar season. The graduate student from Haslet, Texas tied her career-high of four goals this season and added a further four assists for 12 points with one game-winner. She started 15 times in 18 matches during the regular season and logged a career-high 943 minutes of action. All four of her goals came in the final three weeks of the season including three in the final two matches while being a constant threat on the outside for the top offense in the RMAC, ranking in the top 10 in the league in shots.
Clingman's Second Team nod is her second All-RMAC honor following an Honorable Mention selection in 2022. The senior from Broomfield was one of three players to start all 18 matches this season for the Orediggers as she finished the regular season second on the team in minutes with 1,576 and added two assists for nine points while putting five of her nine shots this season on target. Along with Harman, she helped lead the top defensive unit in the RMAC this season.
Manalili, who Monday was named RMAC First Team All-Academic, earns her first All-RMAC honors following a breakout season in which she led Mines with six assists while scoring the first three goals of her career for 12 points. She started seven times in 18 matched for 771 minutes and had a six-match stretch from October 11-20 in which she recorded nine points, scoring three times with three assists and never went more than three matches this season without registering a point. She ended the regular season as the RMAC leader in assists.
Colorado Mesa's Keely Wieczorek was named Goalkeeper of the Year while Malia Groshong from UCCS took home Freshman of the Year honors to round out the major award winners.
