BILLINGS, Mont. – Nationally-ranked MSU Billings proved too much for the Colorado School of Mines Women's Basketball team on Saturday night as the Yellowjacket Classic came to a close with a 85-54 loss for the Orediggers.
Emma Sixta led all players with 16 points.
Jenna Siebert and
Peyton Freiermuth notched nine points apiece. No other player had more rebounds than
Jade Leon who pulled down 11. Outside of that, highlights included three assists from
Josephine Howery, two blocks by Sixta, and two steals by Freiermuth. After four quarters of play, MSU Billings (6-1) led Mines (1-3) in every single statistical category, underscoring just three ties and two lead changes.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Beaty poured in six points across the first 10 minutes on Saturday night. It marked the Orediggers' most competitive period as they trailed just 17-16 going into the second quarter. Unfortunately for Mines, MSU Billings dominated the remaining three periods with two of the three margins hitting double digits. An 11-0 run for the home team sent the game into the half. Along the way, Freiermuth scored four points in the second quarter, Leon notched three rebounds in the third quarter, and Sixta put up 10 points in the fourth quarter.
