#1 Orediggers Complete Unbeaten Regular Season With Seventh RMAC Title

GOLDEN, Colo. – Taking the field for the final time before the postseason Sunday at Stermole Stadium, the top-ranked Colorado School of Mines women's soccer team looked to send its nine seniors on the 2024 roster off in style against Westminster, and what a send off it was. The Orediggers (17-0-1, 11-0-1) capped off the first full-length unbeaten regular season in program history behind goals from Laura Butler, Bella Campos and Cloey Seltzer to ground the Griffins (7-4-4, 5-3-3) by a final score of 3-0 and capture the 2024 RMAC Championship.

Mines wasted little time jumping out front of the Griffins as Afton Rasco played a ball from the far side endline back into the penalty area for Bella Campos. Campos, with a defender draped across her back, passed back out wide to Laura Butler at the top edge of the 18-yard box for a one-timer that sailed over the arms of Brooklyn Northcutt and inside the near post for the opening goal of the game in the second minute.

That opening goal was a sign of things to come as the Orediggers continued to press home their attack with Lauren Clingman and Cloey Seltzer each putting a shot on frame in the minutes that followed. Reese McDermott took aim for the first time in the 33rd minute and again in the 36th but like Clingman and Seltzer, was turned back by Northcutt as the freshman rebounded from the early goal to make three saves.

Westminster finally took aim at goal in the 43rd minute after their first three shots of the half never threatened, but Allie Lundgren had no trouble making the save against Alex Hoffman as Mines took a 1-0 lead to the intermission.

It didn't take long for the Orediggers to extend their advantage in the second half as they scored back-to-back goals just 68 seconds apart in the 56th and 57th minutes. The first goal was set up by a shot from Paola Rubi that banged off the crossbar and back into play, settling at the feet of Campos who had no issues cleaning up the rebound to make it 2-0. Seltzer made it a three-score affair after taking a pass from Campos out wide beyond the penalty area on the far side and showing off some nifty footwork to create space for a shot from 17 yards out that Northcutt never left her feet for, tucking inside the near post for her third goal of the weekend.

Lundgren made one final save in the 74th minute before handing the keys over to Sadie Wolf to finish things off as the duo directed another defensive masterpiece, yielding just six total shots on the afternoon to Westminster on the way to a 3-0 win and the number one seed in the upcoming RMAC Women's Soccer Championship.
