COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A trio of Orediggers have been named RMAC Track & Field Athletes of the Week after a record-setting opening weekend to the indoor season.

Jenna Ramsey-Rutledge and Loic Scomparin were named the RMAC Women's and Men's Track Athletes of the Week, respectively, and Avery Wright earned the RMAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week award.

Ramsey-Rutledge broke the NCAA Division II women's 5,000m record at Boston University's Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener, to earn her second award of the week as she was named the USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week on Monday. Ramsey-Rutledge ran 15:40.98, clocking in three-tenths below the previous D-II record of 15:41.30 set by Winona State's Lindsay Cunningham in 2023 while also breaking the RMAC record of 15:47.88. Prior to Saturday, no Oredigger woman had ever run a sub-16:00 5K.

Scomparin also broke a national record, in the men's 3,000m, as he was part of a historic race in Boston. In the top heat that saw both the NCAA Division I and II records broken, Scomparin ran 7:43.96 to best Adams State's Miguel Coca's previous D-II record of 7:44.90 set last season. Scomparin now owns two of the top three and three of the top 10 fastest 3K performances in D-II history over his career.

Wright compiled the RMAC's best pentathlon performance since 2016, resetting her school record with 3,822 points to win the event at the Mines Alumni Classic. That ranks as the NCAA D-II #3 performance of the season, and along the way she broke the Mines 60m hurdles record at 8.52 seconds (the RMAC #1 and NCAA #4 performance of the season) while also hitting personal bests in the shot put and long jump, and winning the 800m.
