NABC Top 25 Rankings Dec. 31

GOLDEN, Colo. – Despite ceding some ground in the final rankings of 2024, the Colorado School of Mines men's basketball will close the calendar ranked #16 in the NABC Division II Coaches Poll.

The Orediggers (9-2, 4-0) went 1-1 in their final action of the current year at the DII Holiday Hoops Classic in Las Vegas, nearly pulling off an upset of then #3 West Liberty but coming up short 92-87 before rebounding with a 71-54 win over regional opponent Angelo State.

Four of the nation's top five teams remained the same in the NABC rankings as Nova Southeastern and Washburn remained 1-2 while Daemen (N.Y.) and Ferris State moved up one spot each third and fourth following the third-ranked Hilltoppers' loss to Top 25 newcomer Missouri S&T. Minot State rounds out the top five this week, jumping all the way up from #12 in the last poll before the holidays.

As of the time of writing, there was no new D2CSC Media Poll this week. The most edition recent poll on December 16 had Mines ranked #11 following the second weekend of RMAC play. NSU, WLU, WU, WTAMU and FSU were ranked 1-5 while MSUD was #25.

MSU Denver dropped out of the Top 25 in the Coaches Poll this week, reverting back to receiving votes. They remain the only other RMAC team in the national conversation so far this season.

Mines returns to the court Saturday at 3 p.m. at Lockridge Arena in their final non-conference action of the season against Northern New Mexico College.
