NEW ORLEANS - Jenna Ramsey-Rutledge has won the first USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week award for the 2024-25 indoor track & field season after her record-breaking performance to start the year.

Fresh off her third-place finish at the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships in late November, Ramsey-Rutledge broke the D-II all-time 5,000m record at Boston University's Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener on Saturday. Racing against the nation's elite, Ramsey-Rutledge turned in a huge personal-best time of 15:40.98, clocking in three-tenths below the previous D-II record of 15:41.30 set by Winona State's Lindsay Cunningham in 2023 while also breaking the RMAC record of 15:47.88. Prior to Saturday, no Oredigger woman had ever run a sub-16:00 5K.

Ramsey-Rutledge is the second Oredigger woman to ever earn the national award for the indoor season, joining vaulter Hannah Miller from the 2023 season.

Mines returns to competition Jan. 11 at the Potts Invitational in Boulder.
