COLORADO SPRINGS – Ashley Steffeck was voted RMAC Offensive Player of the Week on Monday after breaking multiple program records while guiding the Colorado School of Mines Women's Basketball team to a 1-1 record.
Steffeck brought home her fourth RMAC Offensive Player of the Week award of the season after averaging 28 points per game over the weekend with 11 rebounds, four steals, four assists, one block, and five three-pointers. She also went 17-of-18 at the free-throw line to break two Oredigger records. The Fort Collins, Colo., native toppled the single-season mark for made free throws as she moved to 174 on the year compared to 161 from Denali Pinto during the 2019-20 season. Steffeck also surpassed Pinto on Mines' all-time list for made free throws, surging to 427 over the last five seasons. The graduate student's efforts helped the Orediggers offset a 71-68 loss at Colorado Christian with an 83-72 victory at Chadron State. Furthermore, Steffeck's five three-pointers made her the third Oredigger in program history with over 200 made three-pointers in a career.
Mines closes out the regular season this weekend with home games against Adams State and Fort Lewis. The Orediggers celebrate Senior Night on Friday against ASU, tipping off at 5:30 p.m. and celebrating the seniors at halftime of the men's game. Saturday brings a 5 p.m. start against FLC. Tickets can be purchased online or at the door. Free live stats and video on the RMAC Network will be offered at www.minesathletics.com.
