GOLDEN, Colo. – The Colorado School of Mines Baseball team dropped its series opener with CSU Pueblo on Friday by a score of 13-4 at Jim Darden Field.

Carter Gorling provided 2.0 innings of one-hit, shutout relief thanks to a strikeout and zero walks.
Seaver Newby and
Henry Novicki also came in out of the bullpen.
Mines (11-12, 4-5 RMAC) finished the game with a total of six hits. CSU Pueblo (17-8, 6-3 RMAC) scored its 13 runs on 19 hits including three home runs and two doubles. There were a total of six errors in the game with each team committing three apiece. The bullpen for the Orediggers and ThunderWolves only gave up one walk each.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Two runs in the top of the first started the scoring for CSU Pueblo. Both runs were scored with two outs. Andrews answered for Mines with his solo home run in the bottom of the first. That led to a pair of scoreless innings before The Pack started scoring some more, plating two in the fourth, one in the fifth, and two more in the sixth. Three home runs fueled a six-run ninth for CSU Pueblo. The Orediggers' offense didn't return until the bottom of the eighth when Andrews hit his second home run of the game. Pina's one-out double sparked two runs in Mines' last trip to the plate. However, a full rally was stopped short with a lineout and pop-up.
