PUEBLO, Colo. - Five Oredigger throwers got competition started at the Spank Blasing Invite at CSU Pueblo on Friday, notching three personal bests.
Kitt Rupar hit a more than two-meter personal-best in the hammer throw to place fifth at 50.74m, third among D-II competitors as she became only the fourth woman in program history to mark over 50 meters. In the men's hammer,
Hayden Swim led the Orediggers throwing 48.07m for 10th place, more than a meter and a half beyond his previous collegiate best, with
Brody Welch 18th at 42.86m and
Cade Whish 27th with a best of 31.89m.
Freshman
Franklin Rambo threw 48.82m in the javelin for 11th place, improving on his 48.14m throw from last week.
Day 2 of the Blasing Invite starts at 10 a.m. MT Saturday, while a selection of Orediggers also compete at the Hurricane Collegiate Invitational at Miami starting at 9 a.m. ET.Â
