INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The second ranked version of the NCAA South Central Regional Rankings were released Wednesday and saw the Colorado School of Mines men's basketball team remain fifth in the region ahead of their trip to Grand Junction for the RMAC semifinals Friday night.
There was little movement in Wednesday's rankings as West Texas A&M and Fort Lewis remain the top two teams in the South Central followed by Dallas Baptist and Colorado Mesa at #3 and #4. Following Mines in fifth are Eastern New Mexico in sixth and Lubbock Christian in seventh as there was one shakeup this week as Angelo State swapped places with MSU Denver to take the eighth and final spot in the field while the Roadrunners are currently the first team out with Cameron still in contention at #10.
The 64-team field for the NCAA Championship is announced on Sunday March 10 at 9 p.m. MT. The top eight teams in the South Central Region come the NCAA Tournament selection show will travel to the #1 seed and play in a single-elimination style bracket from March 16-19, with the winner of the regional advancing to the Elite Eight in Evansville, Indiana.
Mines will be at Brownson Arena in Grand Junction this weekend to take on #6/8 Fort Lewis in the semifinals as 7 p.m. Friday night in a rematch of last season's title game.
