PITTSBURG, Kan.
- Colorado School of Mines had three individual top-five performances as the women finished 10th and the men 11th overall at the 2024 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships, held at Pitt State.

Aryelle Wright claimed third in the 800m, Loic Scomparin was the 3,000m bronze medalist, and Everett Delate finished fifth in the 60m hurdles among Mines' podium finishes on Saturday.

The Mines women completed their second consecutive top-10 team finish coming in 10th, scoring 19 points a year after tying for eighth in their best-ever finish. The men ended 11th with 17 points, their best team finish since 2021 and tied for their third-best showing ever at the indoor meet.

At the end of the meet, the Orediggers' Zoe Baker was named the NCAA Elite 90 Award recipient, which is given to the meet participant with the highest GPA. Baker, a graduate student in computer science, received her third indoor Elite 90 honor; she was also the 2022 cross country recipient. Baker competed in both the 3,000m and 5,000m runs this weekend.

In the first track event of the day, Delate became Mines' first podium finisher in the sprint hurdles since Timothy Lane was also fifth in 1987, when the event was still run over 55 meters. The senior ran 7.92 from the outside lane to earn First-Team All-America status for the first time in his career.

Wright's third-place 800m finish came in a season-best 2:08.88, as she came all the way from the back of the pack at the bell. It marks the third consecutive podium in the half-mile for Wright, finishing in the top three for the first time.

Scomparin claimed his second podium of the meet, adding to his fourth-place 5,000m finish with the bronze medal in the 3,000m. Scomparin survived a wild finish that included two fallen runners in front of him at the finish line to cross in 7:58.69. Paul Knight ran a personal-best 8:20.51 for 13th, and Duncan Fuehne was 17th in 8:38.81; both men had also run the 5K on Friday.

In her NCAA debut, Margaux Basart finished 10th in the 3K in a time of 9:29.69, earning Second-Team All-America status. Zoe Baker, who also ran the 5K on Friday, finished 14th in a season-best 9:33.15.

Alberto Campa ran 4:22.07 to finish ninth in the men's mile.

Early in the day, Avery Wright finished 13th in the pentathlon, compiling the second-best score in program history with 3,624 points. Wright started her day with three straight PRs, first breaking her own program record in the 60m hurdles with an 8.86 second time before matching her personal-best bar of 1.59m in the high jump. She followed that up with a 12.50m shot put throw, a significant PR, and finished with a 5.13m long jump and 2:31.68 800m to end at 3,624.

Hunter Potrykus was Mines' lone field entrant of the day as he finished ninth in the pole vault at 5.14m. Potrykus cleared 4.89m on his first attempt, then had to use all three tries to get over 5.04m before making 5.14m on his second try. He was one of 10 competitors to make that height, but ended up ninth on misses after bowing out at 5.24m for a Second-Team All-America finish.
