AZUSA, Calif. - Colorado School of Mines started competition at the Bryan Clay Invitational with some standout national marks in the steeplechase and 10,000m run.
Alex Shaw became the fourth man in program history to run a sub-9:00 steeplechase, recording an NCAA-provisional 8:59.55 time for the #4 performance in program history. That should put him inside the top 15 nationally in NCAA Division II once the weekend's results shake out. Meanwhile,
Margaux Basart ran another NCAA provisional performance with her personal-best 10:47.48 time in the women's race. Like Shaw, that time should put her somewhere around 15th nationally at the end of the day after she ran the #7 performance in program history.
Andrew Kaye closed the night with the 10K and a third NCAA provisional performance, crossing in a personal-best 29:19.30. The #5 performance in program history, that ranks 10th nationally pending other results later Thursday night.
Day 2 of the meet will get started early Friday morning and run through the evening as the Orediggers compete in the 5K and 10K.
