LONGMONT, Colo. – The Colorado Collegiate Chronicle released its All-Colorado Teams for men's basketball this week and saw two members of the Colorado School of Mines men's team honored for their performances in the 2023-24 season, as Majok Deng was named a Second Team All-Colorado selection while Alex Romack was named to the publication's All-Freshman Team.

BFishInc. produces the Colorado Collegiate Chronicle to inform interested individuals of basketball happenings at two- and four-year schools in The Centennial State. The All-Colorado Teams recognize the best players throughout the state at the collegiate level, regardless of their institution's affiliation. Members of the All-Colorado Teams include student-athletes from Colorado, Colorado State, Northern Colorado and Denver at the Division I level and Mines, Colorado Mesa, Colorado Christian, CSU Pueblo, Fort Lewis, MSU Denver, Regis, UCCS and Western Colorado at the Division II level.

Deng, a First Team All-RMAC selection and Second Team All-Region honoree by the D2 CCA and NABC, starred in his first season in Golden. The graduate transfer from Pepperdine led the Orediggers in scoring at 17.2 PPG and shot .441/.436/.840 for the season. Deng was also tops on the team with 82 three-point field goals and second in three-point percentage while ranking second in the conference in the three-pointers and leading the league in three-point percentage among eligible players. He finished the year seventh in the league in scoring and posted 10 games with 20 or more points, including a 31-point performance in just his second game of the season against soon-to-be Division I member Mercyhurst, while becoming just the sixth player to drop 40 in a game in program history, going for 32 against Chadron state in late February and becoming the first players in the last nine seasons for score 30 or more twice in the same season.

Romack, the RMAC Freshman of the Year, played in all 33 games in his debut season, starting in 32 of them. He averaged 8.9 points and 6.8 rebounds per game to lead the team while adding 33 assists, 27 blocks and 19 steals. He posted 14 double-digit scoring outings and seven games with 10 or more rebounds, turning in double-doubles six times, the most by an Orediggers in a season since the 2017-18 season. Romack shot .645 from the floor, the sixth-best single-season percentage in a season in Mines history and in his home debut, became the first player in program history to shoot 100% from the floor in a game (min. 10 att.) on November 20 against Williams Baptist, scoring 21 points with 11 rebounds in his first career double-double. He also recorded a double-double in his postseason debut, going for 17 and 11 against Regis in the RMAC quarterfinals in March.

Mines finished the year 24-9 overall and 17-5 in the RMAC, finishing third in the third in the conference standings and advancing to the NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Championship for the second time in as many years and 13th time overall.
