Lukas Taggart is in the top 10 and Mines is tied for fourth after a solid first 36 holes at the Palm Valley Classic in Arizona.
Taggart carded twin rounds of 69 to get to -6 and a tie for seventh overnight to lead the Orediggers, who are -7 on team rounds of 279 and 290. Colorado Christian leads the field at -27 followed by Western New Mexico at -20 and St. Mary's at -13, with Mines, Midwestern State, and Fort Lewis knotted at -7 for fourth.
Ethan Adam shot a morning 69 and 73 after lunch to be under par at -2 (T17), and
Jake Welch carded countable rounds of 72-73 to be +1 (T38).
Max Lange was one-under at 71 in the first round before a second-round 75 took him to +2 (T51).
Lucas Schulte had a two-under 70 in the first round but an 81 in his second 18 took him to +7 in a tie for 80th.
Playing as individuals,
Carter Lolli shot 68-76 to be even par and tied for 28th, with
Owen Cornmesser marking 73-77 to be +6 (T77).
Fort Lewis' Ron Kildall, Western New Mexico's Adam Niles, and Midwestern State's Seth Bearden are tied for the individual lead at -11.
Tuesday's final round starts at 7:30 a.m. PT.
