GOLDEN, Colo. - Colorado School of Mines football has added three transfers to its roster as the 2024 season draws closer.

Mines will welcome offensive lineman Noah Atherton (South Dakota State), quarterback Austin Gonzalez (Southern Miss), and wide receiver Mark McCurdy (Davidson) to the program this fall, bolstering three already-strong position groups on offense for the five-time defending RMAC champion and two-time national finalist Orediggers (14-1 in 2023).

Atherton, a Colorado native from Longmont, redshirted for the FCS national champion Jackrabbits in 2023. The 6-6, 315-pound lineman was an all-Colorado selection and two-time all-conference pick at Longmont, and also earned Academic All-Colorado honors. At Mines, Atherton will have four years of eligibility remaining.

Gonzalez, a native of Plano, Texas, redshirted as a true freshman at Southern Miss in 2023. A dual-threat quarterback, he was an all-district selection at Lovejoy High School, leading them to the 5A-D2 area round of the Texas state playoffs. Gonzalez was also an accomplished high school track sprinter holding an 11.55-second 100m dash personal best. He will have four years of eligibility remaining.

McCurdy, a native of Park City, Utah, is a graduate transfer after graduating from Davidson with a degree in economics. In his four years with the Wildcats, McCurdy was an all-purpose weapon out of the slot, catching 58 passes for 716 yards and nine touchdowns, and rushing for 1,057 yards and 10 touchdowns. A two-time honorable mention All-Pioneer League selection, McCurdy was part of a successful Wildcats program that went a combined 27-14 over his career with FCS playoff appearances in three of the last four seasons.
