Magalei Caps Signing Class with Transfer Trio

GOLDEN, Colo. – The Colorado School of Mines Volleyball team has rounded out its incoming class for the 2024 season with three transfers signed by Head Coach Jamie Magalei.
 
Kekililanioukaokaoli Helehaki, Hannah Kinnison, and Jenna Mclaughlin are coming to Golden this fall to compete for the Orediggers. Helehaki comes to Mines from Hana, Hawaii, by way of New Mexico Military Institute (NJCAA). Kinnison, originally from Grover, Colo., will come to Golden after stops at the University of San Francisco (NCAA DI) and South Central Region foe Angelo State (NCAA DII). Mclaughlin, an Ohio native, arrives at Mines after competing for Villanova's club volleyball team. The three newest Orediggers make 12 total signees for Magalei. The nine other newcomers were announced in February.
 
"We are extremely excited to welcome these three ladies to Mines," said Magalei. "They bring a wealth of experience to a very talented roster."

NEW MEXICO MILITARY INSTITUTE (2022-23): Played as a setter and on the outside for two seasons at NMMI of the NJCAA … As freshman, led the team with 740 assists while adding 18 kills, 27 service aces, 242 digs, and 22 total blocks … Helped her team to the NJCAA National Tournament … Inaugural collegiate campaign featured 12 double-doubles including a 55-assist, 19-dig outburst at New Mexico Junior College on Oct. 8 … Also put up 53 assists, 15 digs, and three blocks at Western Texas College on Sept. 28 … Sophomore season resulted in 530 assists, 122 kills on .157 hitting, 41 service aces, and 39 total blocks … Added 11 more double-doubles to her resume and also had three triple-doubles during the campaign … First triple-double featured 11 kills on .333 hitting with 22 assists, 25 digs, three blocks and one service ace against Western Texas College on Sept. 23 … Second triple-double included 11 kills on .281 hitting with 20 assists, 15 digs, and three blocks at Western Texas College on Oct. 18 … Rounded out her triple-doubles with a 12-kill, 18-assist, 15-dig performance against Western Texas College on Nov. 3 while adding three service aces and six blocks … Earned Dean's List and Superintendent's List distinction for her work in the classroom.
 
HIGH SCHOOL/CLUB: Attended Hana High School on the island of Maui in Hawaii and competed in the Maui Interscholastic League … Was a hitter for most of her prep career but boasted versatility to play at every position … Earned MIL All-Star First Team twice and MIL All-Star Honorable Mention as well … Earned valedictorian distinction for her high school graduation.

ANGELO STATE (2022-23): Earned a plethora of awards in two seasons with the Rambelles including 2023 AVCA Honorable Mention All-America, 2023 AVCA All-Region, 2023 D2CCA Second-Team All-Region, 2023 Lone Star Conference Academic Player of the Year, 2023 First-Team All-LSC, 2023 LSC All-Tournament, 2023 NCAA South Central Region All-Tournament, 2023 CSC Academic All-District, LSC Offensive Player of the Week, and multiple other academic accolades … On the court in 2022, her first season with ASU, tallied 128 kills on 1.131 hitting with 180 digs, 22 total blocks, 16 assists, and five service aces … In 2023, totaled 315 kills on .337 hitting while adding 64 digs and 43 total blocks … Overall during her time with Angelo State, accumulated 148 sets across 42 matches with 443 kills on .256 hitting with 22 assists, five service aces, 244 digs, and 70 total blocks … Helped the Rambelles to the LSC tournament in 2022 and all the way to the NCAA South Central Region Tournament in 2023 … Finished her time at ASU ranked eighth in program history for attack percentage in a season and ninth in program history for kills in a season … Earned her degree from Angelo State in food animal science marketing.
 
UNIVERSITY OF SAN FRANCISCO (2020-21): Started her collegiate career at NCAA Division I University of San Francsico … Freshman season in 2020 was impacted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but still resulted in seven kills in 14 matches with 22 digs, four service aces and two blocks … Her collegiate volleyball debut came with two sets at Pepperdine on Jan. 27, 2021, where she put up two digs … Also knocked down four kills against Loyola Marymount on Feb. 2 … Sophomore campaign in fall of 2021 led to 83 kills in 24 matches along with 65 digs, 11 total blocks, eight assists, and four service aces … Highlight of her second season was 12 kills at Sacramento State on Aug. 28 … Earned West Coast Conference First-Team All-Academic during her time at USF as well.
 
HIGH SCHOOL/CLUB: Three-year letter winner in volleyball and one in basketball at Prairie High School in Colorado ... earned Second Team All-State in 2016, Max Preps All-State Honorable Mention in 2017 and 2018...league MVP in 2017...Max Preps AVCA Player of the Week in 2017...recorded 963 kills, averaging 5.1 per set...recorded a .516 attack percentage...graduated top of her class...American Quarter Horse Association World Show qualifier in 2016...Reserve State Champion competing in Ranch Horse Level Four.

VILLANOVA (2023): Competed for the club volleyball team at Villanova University in Pennsylvania … Earned Villanova Honors as a freshman in the greater Philadelphia area.
 
HIGH SCHOOL/CLUB: Three-sport athlete with a total of 11 varsity letters between volleyball, basketball, and soccer at Bishop Rosecrans High School in Ohio … Earned three varsity letters playing volleyball and four each in basketball and soccer … Three-year starter at middle, earning Honorable Mention and Second-Team All-District … Was Second-Team East District Ohio, Second-Team All-Mid State Ohio, and broke the school record for blocks … On the pitch, played her way to Honorable Mention and Second-Team All-District … For the basketball team, was all-district twice and led the state of Ohio in rebounds while ranking #3 in blocks, and #9 in double-doubles as a senior in division four … Played club volleyball for New Wave, Advanced Academy, and Greater Columbus Volleyball Club… In the classroom, earned Dean's List distinction along with membership in the National Honor Society, Principal's List, AP Biology Award, Honors English Award, and American History Award.
