Lange, Taggart Earn Academic All-District Honors

GOLDEN, Colo. - Max Lange and Lukas Taggart have earned spots on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team after standout seasons for Colorado School of Mines golf.

It marks the first career honor for both golfers, who just wrapped up their sophomore seasons. Both major in mechanical engineering. 

Lange, a native of Golden, was a Second-Team All-RMAC selection averaging 72.55 in 2023-24. The co-medalist at the Centennial Cup, Lange was even or under par in four of 11 tournaments and recorded four top-10s and seven top-25s as a sophomore. 

Taggart, from Washoe Valley, Nevada, earned First-Team All-RMAC and First-Team Academic All-RMAC honors shooting a team-leading 71.72. He ended the season ranked #69 in Division II after notching four top-10s and three top-5s. He qualified for the NCAA West/South Central Regional, and was par or better 21 times in 32 rounds.

The pair were named to the At-Large Team, which combines candidates from a number of sports including fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, tennis, volleyball, water polo, and wrestling. All nominees must have a 3.5 or above GPA while holding sophomore or higher academic standing. They were joined on the At-Large All-District team by Mines wrestlers Grayston DiBlasi and Cody Thompson. Academic All-District recipients will go on to the ballot for the Academic All-America award, which will be announced July 17.
