CHADRON, Neb. –
Hannah Kinnison pushed the Colorado School of Mines Volleyball team past Chadron State in straight sets on Friday thanks to her fifth consecutive double-double
Kinnison closed Mines' 3-0 win at Chadron State with 12 kills and 14 digs. She also pushed out three assists and one service ace.
Taylor Helms joined Kinnison in the double-digit kill category by knocking down 11 on .333 hitting. Her three total blocks did not hurt the cause.
Kate Kudlac garnered note on offense with seven kills and a .353 attack percentage.
Jada Price and
Olivia Murillo held down the back row with 23 combined digs. Also notable were six total blocks from
Jenna McLaughlin and
Presley Powell's 26 assists in just two sets of action.
As a team, Mines (4-5, 1-0 RMAC) hit .306 and held Chadron State (2-7, 0-1 RMAC) to .168 on the attack thanks to nine blocks overall. The Orediggers also had more digs, more blocks, and more assists than the Eagles. In the loss, CSC produced six service aces compared to five from Mines. Friday's victory avenges the Orediggers' loss to Chadron State in 2023 which was the first such event since 2008.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The opening set brought five kills apiece off the hands of Kinnison and Kudlac. That production, combined with six digs from Price and three blocks by McLaughlin, fueled a 26-24 win. Mines carried its momentum into the second game and rode four
Allison Jansen kills to a 25-16 victory. Jansen hit .500, Kinnison produced six digs, Murillo had five digs, and McLaughlin posted three more blocks. Three ties and two lead changes in the final set made things spicy. However, Kinnison and Helms combined for 11 kills and just one error as Helms hit .714 in the frame and Kinnison converted at .500. Three digs apiece from Kinnison, Price, and Kekililani Helikahi were big as the Orediggers cruised to a 25-22 on the way to a sweep.
