COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference released it's third round of weekly honors for women's soccer Thursday and following a weekend sweep to close out non-conference action, the Colorado School of Mines women's soccer team made it a sweep of the weekly awards with
Reese McDermott and
Allie Lundgren repeating as Offensive Player and Goalkeeper of the Week, while
Ava Harman earned her second weekly honor of the season as the Defensive Player of the Week.
It is the first Mines sweep of the weekly awards since October 5, 2021, when McDermott,
Katie Koehler and Sierra Roth accomplished the feat.
McDermott lit up the stat sheet once again this weekend, scoring a total of three goals while adding an assist in each game to run her scoring, points and assist streaks all to three matches entering RMAC play. The senior assisted on
Afton Rasco's game-winner in the 33rd minute before scoring twice just 29 seconds apart in the 84th minute as part of a 4-0 win. The 29 second difference between goals is the third-fastest pair of consecutive goals in Mines history while breaking the previous individual record by 41 seconds. Sunday at Western Washington, McDermott was at it again, assisting on the game-winning score just before half before doubling the lead late in the second half with her conference-leading seventh goal of the season. For the weekend she logged 138 minutes with three goals and two assists for eight points and put eight of her 10 shots on target.
Lundgren was stout in goal as she posted her second and third shutouts of the season in the 4-0 and 2-0 wins over the Saints and Vikings. Friday she and the defense faced just four shots from SMU while Sunday limiting the 2022 national champions to 10 shots and saving all four on goal. The junior has now doubled her amount of career appearances over the last four matches for Mines and now on the season sports 11 saves, a 4-0-0 record and three shutouts and has yet to allow a goal.
Harman earns her second career Defensive Player of the Week honor with the last coming all the back in her freshman season. The fifth-year midfielder scored the game-winning goal Sunday against WWU, her third such goal this season and now has five career game-winners out of six career goals scored. She logged 157 minutes and tallied three shots with two going on target while helping anchor a defensive effort that allowed just 14 combined shots by Saint Martin's and Western Washington in 180 minutes of action.
Mines (6-0-0) opens RMAC action Friday night at Stermole Stadium at 6 p.m. against defending league champions UCCS before hosting CSU Pueblo Sunday at 1 p.m.
