RMAC XC Runners of the Week
COLORADO SPRINGS – The Colorado School of Mines Men's and Women's Cross Country teams swept the RMAC Runner of the Week awards on Wednesday thanks to
Paul Knight and
Jenna Ramsey-Rutledge.
It marks the first such awards of the season for both Orediggers and the second RMAC weekly award of their respective careers. Knight won it as the top collegiate finisher on Saturday at the 2024 Roadrunners Invitational in Washington Park, and the fastest man in the RMAC over the weekend. He finished the 8K course in 24:27.0 which was over a minute faster than any man in the conference over the last five days. Knight was second only to a pair of professional competitors and helped Mines' men win the team title by over 70 points. Ramsey-Rutledge, named the USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week on Monday, won the individual title at Washington Park after breaking the 6K course record in 20:59.0. Her time afforded the redshirt senior a 28.8-second margin of victory and fueled a team title for the Oredigger women as well.
The next action for the Oredigger cross country teams will be the Ted Castaneda Classic hosted by Colorado College at Monument Valley Park in Colorado Springs on Oct. 1. A full preview and any live coverage information will be released the week leading up to the event.
