BOULDER, Colo. -
Colorado School of Mines' sprinters starred on the second day of the Potts Invitational at Colorado, with Jonah Fallon making his return in a big way.

Competing in his first official race since the middle of the 2023 outdoor season, Fallon ran Mines' fastest 400m since 2002, clocking a collegiate-best and NCAA-provisional 48.12 to finish second in a large field. That ranks as the #2 performance all-time at Mines and was only four ticks off of Ben Lengerich's program record of 48.08.

Ollie Sehr was one of eight Oredigger freshmen making their collegiate debuts in the 400m, finishing third in a hard-closing 49.47. Liam Currie clocked 49.61 for fifth, Austin Schmidt was sixth in 49.66, Tim Thompson seventh in 50.04, Mark Leoni ninth in 50.48, Elijah Quinby 10th at 50.58, Owen Schneider 11th in 50.95, Waylon Weeks 12th in 52.79, Aiden Bram 13th in 52.88, and Prince Owusu-Ansah 14th at 53.16.

Mines put three men's 4x400 relays on the track with the "A" relay of Currie, Thompson, Logan Meade, and Fallon finishing second behind the host Buffs in 3:19.67. The "B" squad of Sehr, Schneider, Quinby, and Schmidt were third in 3:27.83, while the "C" relay of Leoni, Bram, Owusu-Ansah, and Weeks was fourth in 3:33.08.

Avary Catchings won the women's 800m against D-I competition, cruising to a nearly two-second win in 2:15.86. Grace Galvin highlighted the women's 400m group with a personal-best 57.67 to finish third, with Allison Comer fourth (57.91) and Aani Hardesty fifth (58.78).

The women's 4x400 relay of Hardesty, Galvin, Catchings, and Comer closed the meet with a season-opening 3:55.08 time, slotting in at #9 on the Mines all-time performance list.

Mines will return to Boulder for the Colorado Invitational next Friday and Saturday.
