BOULDER, Colo
. - Kitt Rupar and Holden Murphy's record-setting performances led Colorado School of Mines' field athletes on the first day of the Colorado Classic in Boulder.

Rupar set the Mines program indoor shot put record, throwing 14.57m for fifth place in a loaded field that included a D-I and three D-II all-Americans from a year ago. That surpassed Courtney Clark's record of 14.44m set in 2019; Rupar's previous indoor best was her 14.35m throw at this year's Mines Alumni Classic.

In the men's weight throw, Murphy surpassed the program record by a centimeter, recording a second-place 19.48m to go beyond Jack Root's 19.47m set in 2019. That ranks as the NCAA #7 mark of this indoor season. In only his first three competitions this season, Murphy has set three of the four longest weight throws in Mines history.

Orediggers won both of the pole vault events as Hayley Rayburn and Hunter Potrykus topped their fields. Rayburn topped the women's pole vault as the only competitor over four meters, getting over 4.15m to win by 20 centimeters. Dale Thompson cleared 3.80m for third, and both Maddie Kelly and Madeline Obuchowski were 12th at 3.20m with Arabella Chen 14th at 3.05m as both Kelly and Chen made their collegiate debuts.

Potrykus tied for the win in the men's event, clearing 5.00m as one of four Orediggers to record a height. Tony Peonio, in his collegiate debut, got over 4.40m as did Shane Conley to tie for ninth, while Nick Stade was 13th at 4.25m.

Mines had a big group of men's shot putters led by Franklin Rambo and his fifth-place mark of 15.86m. Holden Murphy was ninth (15.45m) with Brody Welch 11th (14.65m) and Hayden Swim placed 16th at 13.77m, while Keaton Reiman and Vaughn Hafner debuted in 21st and 22nd with marks of 13.48m and 13.16m, respectively; Stade was 32nd recording 10.02m. In the weight throw, Rambo was 16th (14.84m), Swim 17th (14.14m), and Reiman 19th (13.62m).

In the women's weight throw, Jennifer Jarnagin took fifth as the top D-II competitor, marking 16.48m, with Abbi Gillespie 10th (15.34m) and Audrey Ott 15th (13.58m).
