Blake Doud have been selected as Academic All-Americans by the College Sports Communicators organization.
Doud was selected to the First Team for a second consecutive season, while Diaz earned his first career nod as a member of the Second Team. They are the 32nd and 33rd Academic All-America selections in program history, and Mines Football has had at least one student-athlete selected in each of their past 14 seasons.
Diaz, a redshirt junior, was a starting safety and led the Oredigger secondary in 2024 with 43 tackles, 2.0 for loss, and a sack. He had an interception against West Texas A&M as well. Diaz is a mechanical engineering major and earned Honorable Mention All-RMAC and First-Team Academic All-RMAC this postseason.
Doud, a redshirt junior, was D-II's best punter earning consensus all-America honors in both 2023 and 2024. The RMAC and NFFCC Special Teams Player of the Year led D-II in punting at 46.6 yards per punt, and had 19 punts stuck inside the 20. Doud is a mechanical engineering major.
The Academic All-America team recognizes student-athletes who are academic sophomores and above with a 3.5+ GPA who have been outstanding on-field contributors. Through the end of the fall 2024 semester, Colorado School of Mines' 204 total Academic All-Americans are the most by any institution in NCAA Division II history.
