Five Orediggers Named Academic All-District

Academic All-District Teams

GOLDEN, Colo.
- Colorado School of Mines has had Evan Bish, Joel Diaz, Blake Doud, Will Ramsey, and Nick Stone named to the 2024 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team.

It was the second consecutive selection for Doud, who went on to be named a First-Team Academic All-American after the 2023 season, and for Ramsey, who earned the honor in 2023; it is the first Academic All-District honor for Bish, Diaz, and Stone. The Academic All-District team recognizes student-athletes who are academic sophomores and above with a 3.5+ GPA who have been outstanding on-field contributors.

Bish, a redshirt freshman defensive lineman, compiled 13 tackles with 3.0 for loss and half a sack in 10 games in 2024. He had three quarterback pressures and also blocked a kick. Bish is a chemical engineering major.

Diaz, a redshirt junior, was a starting safety and led the Oredigger secondary in 2024 with 43 tackles, 2.0 for loss, and a sack. He had an interception against West Texas A&M as well. Diaz is a mechanical engineering major and earned Honorable Mention All-RMAC and First-Team Academic All-RMAC this postseason.

Doud, a redshirt junior, was D-II's best punter earning consensus all-America honors in both 2023 and 2024. The RMAC and NFFCC Special Teams Player of the Year led D-II in punting at 46.6 yards per punt, and had 19 punts stuck inside the 20. Doud is a mechanical engineering major.

Ramsey, a redshirt sophomore, paired with Diaz as a starting safety and produced 38 tackles with 1.5 for loss plus an interception and two pass break-ups. Ramsey was the 2023 NCAA Elite 90 award winner, and earned 2024 Honorable Mention All-RMAC and First-Team Academic All-RMAC honors.

Stone, a redshirt sophomore, started 10 games at receiver and had 26 catches for 276 yards and a touchdown in 2024. He averaged 10.6 yards per catch, and had a breakout season finale with 104 yards off six catches vs. Fort Lewis. Stone is a mechanical engineering major. 

Academic All-District honorees will be considered for the Academic All-America teams, which will be announced Jan. 28.
