LAST TIME OUT
Mines has not competed since Dec. 7 when they hosted the Alumni Classic and ran at Boston University's Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener. Loic Scomparin and Jenna Ramsey-Rutledge set the NCAA Division II all-time records in the men's 3,000m and women's 5,000m, respectively, to highlight Mines' Boston trip, while in Golden, Avery Wright reset her program pentathlon and 60m hurdle records, Hayley Rayburn debuted as Mines' pole vault record setter, and Tim Thompson (800m), Jeremiah Vaille (5000m), and Holden Murphy (WT) starred with NCAA-provisional performances.

THE CHAMPS ARE HERE, PART I
Mines men's cross country lifted its fourth NCAA Division II national championship since 2015 on Nov. 23, coming back in the final two kilometers to edge Wingate in a thrilling race in Sacramento. Logan Bocovich, Loic Scomparin, and Ethan Grolnic finished 7-8-9 while Paul Knight was 21st and Dawson Gunn 25th to beat the Bulldogs by three points. The women placed fifth led by Jenna Ramsey-Rutledge, whose third-place individual run marked the best finish ever by an Oredigger woman.

THE CHAMPS ARE HERE, PART II
The Mines indoor program made history in 2023-24 by winning both the RMAC men's and women's championships, the first time in program history they have won both at the same time. It was the second consecutive title for the women and the third since 2016 for the men.

RECORD SETTERS
The 2024-25 Oredigger squad includes 11 active program recordholders. For the men, Loic Scomparin (3K), Everett Delate (60H), and Hunter Potrykus (PV) are all atop their events, while Avery Wright (60H and pentathlon), Margaux Basart (3K), Jenna Ramsey-Rutledge (5K), and Hayley Rayburn (PV) have their names on the women's indoor record wall. Three more women - Allison Comer (400H), Claire Kintzley (TJ), and Kitt Rupar (SP) - look forward to strong indoor seasons after they broke outdoor records last spring, with Wright adding the outdoor heptathlon record as well.

EARNING SILVER
Six current and former Mines track & field student-athletes earned degrees at the university's winter commencement ceremonies on Dec. 13. Two current squad members - Shane Conley and Alex Shaw - earned the B.S. degrees in Chemical and Biological Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, respectively, while four alumni earned master's degrees in Duncan Fuehne (Applied Physics), Bo Raadam (Earth Resources Development Engineering), Zoe Baker (Computer Science), and Aryelle Wright (Quantitative Biosciences & Engineering).

LOOKING AHEAD
Mines will return to Boulder again next weekend with a larger group as they take part in the Colorado Classic on Jan. 17-18.
