LAKEWOOD, Colo. – Mines volleyball took care of business Saturday afternoon, prevailing for a 3-1 victory at Colorado Christian.
Jada Price and
Amanda Donais Dudley came up big with 39 combined digs. Donais Dudley added 16 kills on .302 hitting for another double-double.
Naomi Romslo's 15 kills came on a .351 attack percentage along with eight digs. The cherry on top was Martinez touting 58 assists, eight digs, and one service ace. Also notable were 13 kills apiece for
Jenna McLaughlin and
Abbie O'Shay. That duo combined for four blocks as well including two solo stuffs for O'Shay.
The victory moves the Orediggers to 12-4 overall with a 3-3 mark in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Play. Colorado Christian falls to 9-7 (4-2 RMAC). Mines earned the win by grinding out 75 digs and hitting a gritty .250 on the attack. The Cougars produced a .280 hitting percentage but committed nine service errors. Each set of the match was decided by just two points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Extra points were needed in the very first game, setting the tone for a back-and-forth match. A Romslo kill and a CCU attack error locked in a 26-24 win for Mines. Six error-free kills from Donais Dudley and eight digs by Price made the difference as the Orediggers hit .300 in the frame thanks to 16 Martinez assists. Martinez handed out 15 more assists in the second set as Mines hit .359 and claimed a 25-23 win. Colorado Christian dodged the sweep by edging out a 27-25 win in the third set, hitting .400 as a team. A narrow, 26-24 margin in the final set was good enough for the visitors. Another Romslo kill followed by a Cougar attack error clinched the victory.

- Mines is 2-0 against Colorado Christian this season and 45-27 all-time against the Cougars.
