The Colorado School of Mines Club Hockey team is gearing up for one of its most demanding stretches of the season, traveling over 1,900 miles to face the University of Massachusetts and Central Maine Community College in a four-game East Coast road trip from October 17–20.
The Orediggers open the trip on Friday, October 17, in Amherst, Massachusetts, with an 8:30 p.m. EST matchup against UMass. The meeting marks Mines' first of the season against the Minutemen and kicks off a challenging slate of games against two strong Northeast programs.
Following Friday's contest, Mines heads north to Auburn, Maine, for a weekend series against Central Maine Community College. The teams will meet on Saturday, October 18, at 7:00 p.m. EST, and again on Sunday, October 19, at 3:00 p.m. EST. The Orediggers will then return to Amherst for a Monday night rematch with UMass on October 20 at 8:00 p.m. EST, closing out the four-day road stretch.
Mines and Central Maine have faced off several times in recent years, producing competitive, fast-paced matchups. The Orediggers claimed 5-2 and 6–4 wins in Auburn last October before Central Maine responded with a 5–2 victory when the teams met again in March at the 2025 ACHA National Tournament. Both programs are known for their speed and physical play, setting the stage for another entertaining pair of games this weekend.
The Orediggers will look to maintain their recent momentum behind a balanced attack and strong defensive structure. Mines has shown depth throughout its lineup in the early going, with several players stepping up in key moments on both ends of the ice.
With four games in as many days, maintaining energy and discipline will be crucial as Mines navigates the road trip. The team will aim to build consistency and chemistry heading into the heart of the fall schedule.
