SENIOR DAY SENDOFF
Following the conclusion of Sunday's match with Western Colorado, the Orediggers will hold Senior Day ceremonies for the seven members of this year's class. Those players include
Sadie Wolf,
Allie Lundgren,
Callie Fuhr, Gabriela Rodríguez,
Afton Rasco,
Kaitlyn Manalili and
Jolie Jiricek.
WEEK SIX RECAP
The Orediggers closed out their four-match road trip with two more local matches around the Denver metro are last weekend against Colorado Christian and MSU Denver. Friday against the Cougars,
Gaby Guerrero scored the game-winner in a 1-0 victory while Mines turned in their finest defense outing of the season, allowing just four total shots in the match and none on goal. Sunday at MSU Denver,
Lindsay Jeans,
Annelise Rojo,
Natalie Rouse and
Bella Campos all scored while
Afton Rasco added an assist as Mines rolled to a 4-0 rout of the Roadrunners with
Allie Lundgren and
Emma Thomas combining for the shutout and making three saves between them.
AT THE HELM
2025 marks the 16th season leading Mines for boss
Kevin Fickes, the program's winningest head coach. With a career mark of 251-44-41 (.808–), he ranks sixth in all of the NCAA and third in Division II among head coaches with at least five years of experience when it comes to winning percentage. One of two RMAC coaches with 200 career victories, under his direction Mines has overseen 39 All-America selections, 19 Academic All-America selections, 87 all-conference honorees and 32 RMAC major award winners. Fickes has also guided Mines to seven RMAC regular season titles and 10 RMAC Tournament crowns and made 16 consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances.
THE CAPTAINS
After having the same trio of captains for each of the last two seasons, a new group will be wearing the "C" for the Orediggers in 2025 as
Callie Fuhr,
Natalie Rouse and
Bella Campos will lead the way this fall.
Fuhr, a fixture on the Orediggers' back line since 2022, has started 53 consecutive matches going back to October of her debut season and enters this fall with seven career points thanks to a goal and five assists. Across 67 matches in her career, she's clocked more than 5,250 minutes and in 2024 led the team with 2,064 minutes of action.
Rouse, the 2023 RMAC Defensive Player of the Year in her debut season in Golden, returns to action in 2025 after missing the final 21 matches of 2024 due to injury and will lineup alongside Fuhr to anchor the Mines defense at center back. The former All-America selection has started all of the 24 career matches in her career as an Oredigger and owns seven goals and an assist for 15 points in more than 2,100 minutes of action.
Campos, the latest prolific striker to come through Mines, already sports her name in the program record books in numerous places. The 2023 RMAC Freshman of the Year and 2024 RMAC Co-Player of the Year as well as a two-time All-American, Campos looks to step into a larger role in 2025 as an everyday starter. Despite just making 16 starts in her first 45 career matches, Campos has been a prolific producer on offense regardless of her role with 30 goals and 11 assists for 71 points in just over 2,100 minutes played.
A veteran and experienced group that has plenty of RMAC and NCAA Tournament experience, this trio will look to make an impact as leaders of the program heading into this fall.
IN THE POLLS
In the RMAC preseason coaches poll released in early August, the Orediggers were picked to repeat as league champions behind nine first place ballots of the 13 head coaches in the league. UCCS earned three first place ballots and was picked second with Colorado Mesa, MSU Denver and Fort Lewis rounding out the top five.
The top five teams in the poll remained the same this week, but all five seemingly went in a blender and came out in a different place than where they entered. Dallas Baptist graced the poll this week ascending to #1 while Grand Valley state jumped from fourth to second. Minnesota state dropped one spot to third, while North Georgia bumped up one place to fourth. Cal Poly Pomona suffered their first loss of 2025 and dropped to fifth this week.
Around the RMAC, UCCS was back on the rise as they moved up to #10 ahead of their Friday night clash with Mines. Colorado Mesa was also back on the rise, moving up three spots to #20 while Regis dropped out of the rankings this week after debuting at #25 last week.
CHECKING THE STANDINGS
A point of clarification before we reset the standings. Due to a no contest between Fort Lewis and Colorado Mesa back on October 3 due to weather, postseason qualification and seeding will be determined by points per match in accordance with RMAC bylaws.
With that in mind, we look at the standings and see Colorado Mesa on top with a record of 4-0-0 and a 3.00 PPM average followed by UCCS with a record of 5-0-1 and average of 2.67. Mines is third at 4-1-0 and 2.40 with Regis in fourth at 4-1-1 and 2.17. Fort Lewis is fifth at 3-2-0 and 1.80 followed closely by CSU Pueblo at 2-1-2 and 1.60 as well as Adams State at 2-2-1 and 1.40. Western Colorado is eighth (1-2-3, 1.00) and would be the final team in the field if the season ended today. Westminster (0-1-4, 0.80) is ninth followed by MSU Denver (1-4-1, 0.67) in 10th while Colorado Christian (0-3-3, 0.50) and Black Hills State (1-5-0, 0.500 are tied for 11th. New Mexico Highlands is 0-5-0 in league action and brings up the field as they seek their first points of the season.
NOW INTRODUCING
Seven newcomers have joined the Orediggers for the 2025 campaign, as six freshmen and a Division I transfer round out the 29-player roster.
Kate Hendrickson,
Taylor Johnson-Balding,
Avery Kelley,
Lauren Koehler,
Natalie Mezarina and
Demi Woods make up the group of first-year players, while Baylor transfer
Caelan DeBolt joined the team in January. The newcomers will all look to make their mark on the program this fall as they compete for playing time. Learn more about each of the newcomers
here.
PRESEASON HONORS
Bella Campos earned Preseason All-RMAC honors heading into 2025. The junior standout heads into her third year in Golden coming off a 2024 season that saw her named RMAC Co-Player of the Year to follow up a debut season in which she took home Freshman of the Year laurels. Alread a two-time All-American in her career, Campos enters this fall fifth all-time in program history in scoring with 30 goals and is the fifth player all-time to reach that mark. She also ranks fifth all-time with 71 points while her eight game-winning goals are seventh in the record books. Through two seasons she has been a part of 41 goals, more than one-third of the goals scored by the Orediggers since she joined the program in 2023 and looks to take on a larger role in 2025 as she will likely transition into an everyday starter.
WEEKLY AWARD WINNERS
Natalie Rouse and
Allie Lundgren were recognized by the RMAC this week for their efforts in helping Mines to a sweep of Colorado Christian and MSU Denver. Rouse was named Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season and eighth time overall while Lundgren took home Goalkeeper of the Week honors for the first time this fall and fourth in her career. MILESTONE WIN
Last Friday's win over Colorado Christian was another milestone mark in the legendary career of Orediggers head coach
Kevin Fickes. Nearly four years to the day of his 200th career win, the Mines skipper banked #250 at the same venue against the same opponent thanks to a 1-0 win over Colorado Christian at Trailblazer Stadium in Lakewood. Over his first 15 seasons, the Orediggers have averaged better than 16 wins per season under Fickes' direction and have won at least 11 matches in 15 of those seasons (Mines went 7-0-3 in the COVID-shortened spring 2021 season). On pace to put up similar numbers this season, Fickes and the Orediggers will look to continue handling their business as they now set their sights on the second half of the 2025 regular season and the postseason.
MAKING THEIR MARK
Several active Orediggers are making their mark on the program's record books this season as they continue their careers. Most recently,
Allie Lundgren became just the seventh goalkeeper in program history to record 100 career saves, doing so at MSU Denver on Sunday. Entering this weekend, she stands at 101 in her career in sixth all-time, passing Sam Zumbro (2013-16) and trailing Marissa Burson (2005-06) by three for a spot in the top five.
Lundgren is also now sixth in career shutouts with 14, passing Sierra Roth (2018-21) over the weekend and is three back of Zumbro for a top five spot in that category as well. Meanwhile, her 0.67 goals against average also ranks sixth.
Sadie Wolf's mark of 0.58 GAA puts her ahead of Lundgren in fifth while her 87 saves rank eighth all-time and 18 shutouts are good for fourth.
Bella Campos meanwhile continues to pile up the goals and the points with 38 and 90 respectively through the first 55 matches of her career. She's now tied for fourth in goals with Megan Woodworth (2009-12) and is now 10 points away from becoming the fifth Orediggers with 100 points in a career. Campos also has nine game-winners, tying her with Nicole LaTourette (2016-19) for sixth all-time. She's also chasing a spot in the top five in assists as she stands at 14 entering the weekend.
KEEPING IT KOEHLER
Katie Koehler's five-year career with the Orediggers came to an end last season and while she may longer be donning the #2 kit in 2025, it will remain in the family. Younger sister
Lauren Koehler was a part of this year's incoming signing class and will inherit her older sister's uniform. Academically, there's a striking similarity between the sisters as well as Lauren will follow in Katie's footsteps and pursue a degree in Electrical Engineering. And while she may not see time this season as she recovers from an injury suffered in her senior season of high school, when Lauren debuts in a Mines uniform, it'll be in a similar place as well, helping anchor the Orediggers' back line.
CHECKING THE STATS
Following last weekend, nine different Orediggers have scored a goal this fall led by
Bella Campos' eight.

SCOUTING UCCS
UCCS comes into the week on a three-match winning streak and hasn't dropped a contest since September 10 on the road at then seventh-ranked Dallas Baptist. They've won five of six RMAC matches so far this season, the lone exception being a scoreless draw at Colorado Christian on October 3.
10 different players have scored so far this season for the Mountain Lions headlined by Abby Stassi with eight along with three assists for a team-leading 19 points. Brooke Pavlich has six while Emily Aguilar and Luka Johnson have four each. Casey Tadlock checks in with three with Taylynn Levi and Noelia Garcia each scoring twice while three others have one goal each.
Levi and Elise Broberg are top of the list in assists with five while along with Stassi, Pavlich has three assists. Aguilar and Regan Dare each have two with an additional six Mountain Lions each recording one.
Goalkeeping was a challenge for UCCS last fall but with a completely new room this year and three new faces, it has been much improved. Cal State Monterrey Bay transfer Nylah Mirshafiei has played all by 2:26 of 1080 minutes this season, starting all 12 matches and posting a 9-1-2 record with six shutouts. Against 110 shots, she has made 34 saves against just nine goals allowed for a 0.75 GAA and a .791 save rate. Dylan Reese has played the balance of the remaining minutes, making one appearance against Black Hills State and not recording any statistics.
As a team, UCCS is +23 in goal differential at 32-9 and averages 2.67 goals on 16.3 shots per match while holding the opposition to 0.75 goals on 9.2 shots. They have 26 assists on their 32 goals and have made 35 saves in goal. They are 2-2 from the spot and have taken 53 penalty kicks. UCCS has been whistled for 100 fouls and issued five yellow cards.
SCOUTING WESTERN COLORADO
2025 has been tough sledding for Western Colorado although they are coming off their first win of the season last time out with a 4-0 win over New Mexico Highlands. The Mountaineers have also netted a trio of draws in RMAC play against CSU Pueblo, Westminster and Adams State.
Seven different players have scored for WCU this fall lead by Natsuki Murakami with four. Caitlin Mazurek and Cianna Thomas have each scored twice while Sarah Connolly, Karly Morkunas and Jenna Ralls have one goal each.
Lauren Kindt leads the team with three assists while Connolly and Tawny Roberts each have a pair. Ellie Kubena, Adah Minikel-Lacocque and Jordan Welsh meanwhile all have one.
Four different keepers have seen time this season with Ashlyn Fitzpatrick emerging as the leading lady. She's started eight times in nine appearances for 760:18 and against 145 shots has made 45 saves while allowing 24 goals for a 2.84 GAA and a .652 save rate. Aubree Orosco got the start against NMHU and helped pitch a shutout in the first win of the season and has started in all three of her appearances. Against 43 shots, she has made 18 saves against eight goals allowed and in 270 minutes of action, has a 2.67 GAA and a .692 save percentage. Jadyn Lozano has one start in two outings and played 49:42 this season, making three saves and allowing one goal while Teagan Anna has started her only outing of the season and in 90 minutes back during week one of the season against Oklahoma Christian, made one save and allowed one goal.
As a team, WCU is -21 in scoring margin at 34-13 and averages 1.00 goals on 13.9 shots per match while ceding 2.62 goals on 15.8 shots. They have 10 assists on their 13 goals and have made 68 saves defensively. They are 1-2 on penalty kicks and have taken 70 corner kicks, while being whistled for 109 fouls and issued six yellow cards.
SERIES HISTORY
All-time against UCCS, Mines is 19-8-2 and 11-3-1 when playing at home. Last fall the teams met in the RMAC tournament semifinals at Stermole Stadium in which the Mountain Lions scored first in the 63rd minute before the duo of
Reese McDermott and
Bella Campos first tied the match before winning it in the 76th and 82nd minutes. The Orediggers also posted a 4-1 home win in the regular season and haven't lost in Golden to UCCS since 2019. The Mountain Lions do have a recent win in the series, coming by way of a 2-0 result in Colorado Springs in 2023.
Against Western Colorado, Mines has just a single blemish in 14 matchups as they sport a record of 13-1-0 all-time and are a perfect 8-0-0 at home. Last season the Orediggers won 3-0 in Gunnison while the last meeting in Golden in 2023 was a 4-0 Mines win. WCU's lone win in the series came all the way back in 2016 in double overtime in Gunnison by a score of 3-2. Also worth noting, Western Colorado has not scored a goal in the series since a 5-1 Mines win in Golden in the 2016 postseason, being shutout in the last nine meetings and being outscored 35-0 over that span.
