WEEK FOUR RECAP
Mines got back in the win column in their only action of the weekend as they began their RMAC title defenses with a 1-0 win over Fort Lewis Sunday. In a rematch of 2024's tournament title match, the Orediggers again came away victorious thanks to Callie Fuhr's go-ahead penalty kick with 33 seconds left in regulation. Allie Lundgren logged a season-high seven saves in goal as she and the defense orchestrated the team's second shutout of 2025.

AT THE HELM
2025 marks the 16th season leading Mines for boss Kevin Fickes, the program's winningest head coach. With a career mark of 248-43-41 (.809), he ranks sixth in all of the NCAA and third in Division II among head coaches with at least five years of experience when it comes to winning percentage. One of two RMAC coaches with 200 career victories, under his direction Mines has overseen 39 All-America selections, 19 Academic All-America selections, 87 all-conference honorees and 32 RMAC major award winners. Fickes has also guided Mines to seven RMAC regular season titles and 10 RMAC Tournament crowns and made 16 consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances.

THE CAPTAINS
After having the same trio of captains for each of the last two seasons, a new group will be wearing the "C" for the Orediggers in 2025 as Callie Fuhr, Natalie Rouse and Bella Campos will lead the way this fall.

Fuhr, a fixture on the Orediggers' back line since 2022, has started 53 consecutive matches going back to October of her debut season and enters this fall with seven career points thanks to a goal and five assists. Across 67 matches in her career, she's clocked more than 5,250 minutes and in 2024 led the team with 2,064 minutes of action.

Rouse, the 2023 RMAC Defensive Player of the Year in her debut season in Golden, returns to action in 2025 after missing the final 21 matches of 2024 due to injury and will lineup alongside Fuhr to anchor the Mines defense at center back. The former All-America selection has started all of the 24 career matches in her career as an Oredigger and owns seven goals and an assist for 15 points in more than 2,100 minutes of action.

Campos, the latest prolific striker to come through Mines, already sports her name in the program record books in numerous places. The 2023 RMAC Freshman of the Year and 2024 RMAC Co-Player of the Year as well as a two-time All-American, Campos looks to step into a larger role in 2025 as an everyday starter. Despite just making 16 starts in her first 45 career matches, Campos has been a prolific producer on offense regardless of her role with 30 goals and 11 assists for 71 points in just over 2,100 minutes played.

A veteran and experienced group that has plenty of RMAC and NCAA Tournament experience, this trio will look to make an impact as leaders of the program heading into this fall.

IN THE POLLS
In the RMAC preseason coaches poll released in early August, the Orediggers were picked to repeat as league champions behind nine first place ballots of the 13 head coaches in the league. UCCS earned three first place ballots and was picked second with Colorado Mesa, MSU Denver and Fort Lewis rounding out the top five.

One the national stage, Mines remained ninth in this week's United Soccer Coaches Top 25. Very little movement took place in the Top 10 this week, with one of the few changes seeing Gannon and West Florida trade the sixth and seventh places. Cal Poly Pomona remained #1 followed by Minnesota State with Grand Valley State and Dallas Baptist tied for third as North Georgia rounded out the top five. Catawba checks in one spot ahead of Mines in eighth while Central Missouri rounds out the top 10.

Around the RMAC, UCCS moved up a spot to #12 this week while Colorado Mesa dropped two spots to #22 through no fault of their own despite a 2-0-0 weekend to open RMAC play. Regis continued to remain in consideration again this week while Westminster dropped from the national conversation.

CHECKING THE STANDINGS
One week of league play is in the books as 11 of 13 teams recorded a point on opening weekend. Regis, UCCS and Colorado Mesa lead the way with six points each after going 2-0-0 while the Orediggers are the first of three times in fourth with three points after they went 1-0-0. Adams State and Black Hills State each went 1-1-0 and join the Orediggers in the tie for fourth. Westminster is 0-0-2 with two points in seventh while CSU Pueblo, Colorado Christian, MSU Denver and Western Colorado all earned a single point. Fort Lewis and New Mexico Highlands bring up the rear after both going 0-2-0 last weekend.

NOW INTRODUCING
Seven newcomers have joined the Orediggers for the 2025 campaign, as six freshmen and a Division I transfer round out the 29-player roster. Kate Hendrickson, Taylor Johnson-Balding, Avery Kelley, Lauren Koehler, Natalie Mezarina and Demi Woods make up the group of first-year players, while Baylor transfer Caelan DeBolt joined the team in January. The newcomers will all look to make their mark on the program this fall as they compete for playing time. Learn more about each of the newcomers here.

PRESEASON HONORS
Bella Campos earned Preseason All-RMAC honors heading into 2025. The junior standout heads into her third year in Golden coming off a 2024 season that saw her named RMAC Co-Player of the Year to follow up a debut season in which she took home Freshman of the Year laurels. Alread a two-time All-American in her career, Campos enters this fall fifth all-time in program history in scoring with 30 goals and is the fifth player all-time to reach that mark. She also ranks fifth all-time with 71 points while her eight game-winning goals are seventh in the record books. Through two seasons she has been a part of 41 goals, more than one-third of the goals scored by the Orediggers since she joined the program in 2023 and looks to take on a larger role in 2025 as she will likely transition into an everyday starter.

CLIMBING THE RANKS
Bella Campos' scorching start to 2025 has seen her continue her march up the program statistical leaderboards. She continues to close on Megan Woodworth (2009-12) for fourth all-time in scoring, trailing by two with 36 goals. She's also up to 85 points and still has a fair ways to go to catch Woodworth for fourth there at 120, but the season is still young. Campos is now also tied for sixth in game-winners with Nicole LaTourette (2016-19) with nine in her career.

Between the pipes, classmates Allie Lundgren and Sadie Wolf have made names for themselves as two of the top keepers in program history. Lundgren presently ranks tied for sixth in all-time goals against average at 0.71 in more than 2,400 career minutes in goal. She's also seventh in career shutouts with 10 and has now passed Jenny Gradishar (2006) for eighth in career saves with 85 and now finds herself two back of Wolf for seventh. Wolf meanwhile is fourth all-time in GAA with a 0.58 mark in more than 2,900 minutes of action and ranks fourth in career shutouts with 18 and seventh in saves with 87.

KEEPING IT KOEHLER
Katie Koehler's five-year career with the Orediggers came to an end last season and while she may longer be donning the #2 kit in 2025, it will remain in the family. Younger sister Lauren Koehler was a part of this year's incoming signing class and will inherit her older sister's uniform. Academically, there's a striking similarity between the sisters as well as Lauren will follow in Katie's footsteps and pursue a degree in Electrical Engineering. And while she may not see time this season as she recovers from an injury suffered in her senior season of high school, when Lauren debuts in a Mines uniform, it'll be in a similar place as well, helping anchor the Orediggers' back line.

CHECKING THE STATS
Bella Campos remains the team leader in goals with six and is tied for second on the club in assists for two for a team-leading 14 points. Callie Fuhr became the latest player to score for Mines this season Sunday and joins Afton Rasco, Caelan DeBolt, Natalie Mezarina and Natalie Rouse with one goal each.

Kaitlyn Manalili leads the Orediggers with three assists this fall while Rasco matches Campos with a pair. Jordan Bowermaster and Anna Gessner meanwhile have one each.

In goal, Allie Lundgren improved to 4-1-1 on the year with her second shutout of the season against the Skyhawks. Starting all six games for 524:48, the senior has made 27 saves and allowed seven goals against 91 shots faced for a 1.20 GAA and a .794 save rate. Emma Thomas has made one appearance in relief for 15:12 and is yet to record any statistics.

On the season, the Orediggers are +4 in scoring margin at 11-7 and average 1.83 goals on 11.2 shots per match while allowing 1.17 and 15.2 shots to opponents. They have nine assists on their 11 goals and have combined for 27 saves. Mines 2-2 on penalty kicks and has taken 25 corner kicks. They have been whistled for 39 fouls and issued one yellow card.

SCOUTING BLACK HILLS STATE
The Yellow Jackets saw their three-match winning streak come to an end Sunday on the road in Alamosa at the hands of Adams State, dropping a 2-1 decision to the Grizzlies. BHSU opened RMAC play with a 2-1 win at New Mexico Highlands last Friday and prior to that, posted a pair of shutout wins over Dakota State (4-0) and MSU Billings (1-0).

This fall the Yellow Jackets are enjoying their best season in program history, already recording a season-high win total in just their first eight matches of 2025. Leading the charge is second-year freshman Peyton Hill, who leads the lead with four goals with three of those coming in the last four matches. Leah Day has a pair of goals to her credit, while Ella Cornelius, Jayda Hammer, Ally Boysen, Whitney Hansen, Audrey Sillanpaa and Kayla Truong each have one goal on the season.

When it comes to assists, Hill and Cornelius along with Aubri Roth are all tied for the team lead with two while Day, Hammer, Lena Homan and Bria Sargent each have one.

Between the pipes, it has been a tag team effort this season between freshman Rian Barthel and junior Karsyn Fraser-Slothower. Barthel has led the charge, starting all five of her appearances for 450 minutes and against 46 shots, has made 20 saves while allowing three goals for a 0.60 GAA and an .870 save rate with three shutouts on her way to a 2-2-1 record. She started last time out and took the loss against Adams State. Meanwhile, Fraser-Slothower has started all three of her outings for 270 minutes and against 16 shots, has made two saves while allowing a pair of goals for a 0.67 GAA and a .778 save percentage with a 2-0-1 record and a shutout of her own. She got the nod at New Mexico Highlands and recorded her second win of the season.

On the season, BHSU is +7 in goal differential at 12-5 and is averaging 1.50 goals on 16.9 shots per match while opponents are averaging 0.63 goals and 7.8 shots per match. They have 10 assists on their 12 goals and have combined for 27 saves defensively. The Yellow Jackets are 0-1 on penalties and have taken 45 corner kicks. They have been whistled for 55 fouls and are one of two teams in the RMAC yet to be assessed a yellow card.

SCOUTING REGIS
The Rangers swept their opening weekend of RMAC play on the road against Adams State and New Mexico Highlands with wins of 3-1 and 4-0 over the Grizzlies and Cowgirls. Regis enters play this week winners of five of their last six matches and host CSU Pueblo Thursday night before taking on the Orediggers Sunday.

Coming off an out of character 2024, the Rangers have already matched their win total from last year and are currently tied atop the RMAC standings. Natalie Bunch leads RU with six goals while Elsa Nolen is one back with five. The duo have 13 points each with Bunch adding one assist and Nolen leading the team with three. Fernanda Rodriguez is the final player with multiple goals this season with four and double digit points with 10 thanks to two assists. Morgan Black, Paige Davis, Elsie Miller, Brooke Castillo and Malia Salema round out the scoring with one goal each.

Behind Nolen and Rodriguez on the assist chart, Black, Davis and Miller have two each while Andie Rylance joins Bunch and Castillo with one.

In goal, four of the five keepers Regis has on roster have seen action multiple times this season. Valparaiso transfer Helen Stegner has taken the leading role, starting the first seven matches of the season and logging 430:19. Against 50 shots, she's made 22 saves and allowed six goals for a 1.25 GAA and a .786 save percentage on her way to a 5-1-1 record and has been part of two shutouts. Kayla Arucan got the start last time out against New Mexico Highlands but playing just the opening 45 minutes. In her three outings spanning 115:26, she has made two saves against 10 shots and is yet to allow a goal while helping on three shutouts. Grace Glover split Sunday with Arucan in her second appearance of the season and in 64:34 of action, has made saves on the only two shots she's faced and assisted on two shutouts. Maggie Payne rounds out the quartet and has made three appearances, including the second half Friday against Adams State in relief of Stegner. Across the 109:41 she's played, Payne has made eight saves against 18 shots and is yet to cede a goal and assisted on one shutout.

Against Regis, Mines is 23-9-2 all-time and takes a five-match winning streak to the corner of Federal and Regis Boulevards. The Orediggers are 10-4-1 all-time when playing as the visitors, but have made just three trips to Regis since 2019.
