United Soccer Coaches Top 25

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The seventh in-season Top 25 release by the United Soccer Coaches Tuesday saw the Colorado School of Mines women's soccer team back on the rise this week as they re-entered the top 10 at #8.

The Orediggers ran their winning streak to four over the weekend following a sweep of then #10 UCCS and Western Colorado by scores of 2-1 and 4-0. Friday night Mines took an early lead thanks a Callie Fuhr penalty kick just 61 seconds in before the Mountain Lions tied the match eight minutes later. It wasn't until the 61st minute when Mines re-took the lead thanks to a Natalie Rouse header off an Afton Rasco corner kick and managed to hold on as a potential match-tying goal by UCCS in the final three minutes was waved off by the officials. Sunday against the Mountaineers, it was all Orediggers from the opening whistle as Bella Campos scored twice with assists from Linsday Jeans and Kaitlyn Manalili. Rasco converted a PK and also assisted on a goal by Annelise Rojo. In goal Allie Lundgren and Emma Thomas combined for four saves in the shutout.

There was movement aplenty in the top five this week behind #1 Dallas Baptist. Minnesota State moved up a spot to second while Cal Poly Pomona rebounded this week moving up two spots to #3. Catawba leaped four spots to fourth this week while Grand Valley State backslid three places to fifth.

Around the RMAC, UCCS dropped four spots to #14 while Colorado Mesa remained at #20. Regis, who had previously received votes, dropped from consideration this week.

The Orediggers (9-2-1, 6-1-0) host Colorado Mesa and Westminster this weekend at Stermole Stadium on Friday October 24 at 6 p.m. and Sunday October 26 at 1 p.m.
