The Mines Women's Club Soccer team put together a strong weekend showing in tournament play from October 3–5, advancing to the semifinal after two hard-fought matches.

The Orediggers opened the weekend on October 3 against the always-tough CU Gold squad. Mines held their own throughout the first half, with Kelly Gilhooley burying a beautiful goal off an assist from Samantha Parks. Despite the solid effort, Gold proved to be stiff competition, and Mines couldn't quite pull off the win—but the team left the field proud of their play and execution against a top-tier opponent.

The next day, October 4, Mines came out determined and delivered in a big way with a statement win over the University of Denver (DU). After a 1-1 draw in their previous meeting, the Orediggers took control this time around, cruising to a 4-0 victory thanks to goals from Samantha Parks, Kelly Gilhooley, Evelyn Hachmann, and Kaeli Nallathamby. The dominant team effort secured Mines a spot in the semifinals and showcased the squad's growing chemistry and attacking depth.

In the semifinal match on October 5 against CU Black, both defenses held firm through regulation, resulting in a 0-0 draw. Due to tournament rules, there was no overtime and the game went straight to penalty kicks, but luck wasn't on Mines' side. The Orediggers missed their first three attempts, while CU converted theirs to advance.

Despite the heartbreaking finish, the weekend was filled with positives, as Mines demonstrated grit, teamwork, and scoring power throughout the tournament. The Orediggers will get another shot at CU Black in a few weeks, and they're already looking forward to a chance at redemption.
