LUBBOCK, Texas (Nov. 15) — The Colorado School of Mines Men's Rugby Club delivered a powerful 62–19 victory over St. Edward's University on Friday afternoon at Texas Tech University, securing their place in the NCR Division II Sweet 16. The dominant performance advances the Orediggers to the regional championship stage, where only 16 teams remain in the hunt for a national title.

Heading into the matchup, Mines anticipated their toughest test of the year. St. Edward's entered the play-in round unbeaten, known for size, discipline, and multiple high-margin wins. Despite those expectations, Mines wasted no time seizing control. The Orediggers opened with three tries in the first ten minutes, capitalizing on pace, width, and clinical execution to build a lead they would never surrender. The early scoring surge immediately shifted momentum and confidence in Mines' favor, setting the tone for a fast-paced, attack-focused afternoon.

From there, Mines continued to apply relentless pressure across all phases. The forward pack established clean platforms at scrum and lineout time, while the backline stretched the field with tempo, decisive passing, and finish-quality running lines. St. Edward's battled throughout the second half and crossed the try line three times, but Mines' scoring rate and defensive organization proved too much to overcome.

The 62-point offensive performance marks one of the program's strongest postseason showings in recent history and demonstrates the group's growth, cohesion, and tactical maturity.
