2025 All-RMAC Football Teams

COLORADO SPRINGS
- First-team selections Cade Myer and Josh Hildebrand led Colorado School of Mines on the annual all-RMAC football teams announced Friday.

Myer, an offensive guard, and Hildebrand, a longsnapper, were two of 10 Orediggers honored overall. Second-Team All-RMAC selections included running back Max Barnes, tight end Blake Smotherman, offensive guard Ben James, cornerback Jackson Zimmermann, and kicker Preston Kyle, while Honorable Mention All-RMAC status went to punter Lucas LeSieur, offensive tackle Michael Magar, and receiver Pierce Richards.

Behind Hildebrand, Mines led the RMAC in made field goals (17), was 49-of-50 on PATs, and was second in the RMAC in net punting (38.9 ypp). The second consecutive Mines longsnapper to earn First-Team All-RMAC status, Hildebrand helped Mines have the second-lowest return-against average (2.3 yards) in the RMAC this season as he worked with a unit that included two other all-RMAC honorees in Kyle and LeSieur.

Three of Mines' offensive linemen were honored with Myer - a redshirt junior - on the first team, and James and Magar - redshirt seniors - on the second and honorable mention teams, respectively. They were part of an outstanding Oredigger line that produced the RMAC's #2 rushing offense of 234.8 yards per game and #2 total offense of 450.9 yards per game. Three different Mines running backs had 150-yard games in 2025, while they protected quarterback Joseph Capra with only 18 sacks in 11 games.

Smotherman, a redshirt junior, was also a key part of Mines' blocking scheme at tight end, but he had a breakout year in the receiving game as well catching 21 passes for 218 yards and three touchdowns. His career-best game came against New Mexico Highlands with four receptions for 73 yards and two touchdowns, and he also caught a score against Adams State.

Despite playing only the second half the season, Barnes' electric running style earned him his first career all-RMAC nod after rushing for 654 yards and five touchdowns, averaging 109 yards per game on the ground. In six games, Barnes averaged 7.8 yards per carry topped by 201 yards vs. Adams State, 172 against New Mexico Highlands, and 157 with two touchdowns against CSU Pueblo.

Kyle, a redshirt freshman, was the Second-Team All-RMAC placekicker after going 17-of-23 on field goals and a perfect 44-of-44 on PATs in 2025. Kyle led the RMAC in made field goals and led all conference kickers in scoring (95 points). His long field goal of the season was 56 yards, the longest for an Oredigger since 1997. Nationally, he is tied for second in NCAA Division II in made field goals through the end of the regular season and ranks third nationally among kickers in scoring.

Zimmermann, a redshirt senior, receives his third consecutive all-RMAC nod after a dominating season at cornerback. Zimmermann made 33 tackles with two interceptions, a forced fumble, and six pass break-ups in 2025, and contributed on special teams with two kick blocks. In his decorated career, Zimmermann compiled 10 picks, 112 tackles, and 24 pass break-ups in 43 games.

Richards earns his first all-RMAC award as a redshirt sophomore despite being limited to nine games. He led Mines in receiving with 553 yards and seven touchdowns (61.4 yards per game) on a team-high 56 catches. Richards' top game was a 117-yard, 1-touchdown performance against Black Hills State, and he caught three scores in an 88-yard effort against Adams State.

LeSieur, a redshirt freshman, was one of the nation's best punters in his first season starting, averaging 44.8 yards per punt with 13 of 40 inside the 20 and only six touchbacks. LeSieur ended the regular season second in NCAA Division II and leading the RMAC in punt average.
