The Colorado School of Mines Men's Club Soccer team wrapped up its 2025 campaign this past weekend with a competitive showing at the Regional Tournament in Omaha, Nebraska. Facing three strong opponents, the Orediggers battled through a tough schedule, highlighted by a commanding win in their final match of the weekend.
Mines opened tournament play on Friday, Oct. 31, against the University of Kansas. In a hard-fought, back-and-forth battle, both sides generated scoring chances throughout. The match's only goal came in unfortunate fashion when goalkeeper Erik Moore, after securing the ball, suffered an ankle injury and fell across the goal line, resulting in a 1–0 defeat for the Orediggers.
On Saturday afternoon, Mines faced Grand Canyon University in another tight contest. After conceding a first-half goal, Mines answered with a strong equalizer from Robbie Mabbs, bringing the match level midway through the second half. However, GCU managed a late chip over the goalkeeper to claim a narrow 2–1 win, ending Mines' hopes of advancing to the knockout rounds.
The Orediggers closed out the tournament on a high note Saturday evening with a decisive 6–1 victory over the University of South Dakota. Mines spread the scoring across four different players in a dominant offensive performance, controlling possession and dictating play from start to finish.
